Thanks for your concern Mike. Your assumption was correct! Haven't done anything since Sunday as the bug has well and truly got me. Helsby at this moment in time looks like a non starter.
On a positive note, at least I know why my training hasn't felt right over the past week or so.
FF - you won't see much of that on Sunday. "slight" wind??? Blowing a gale here on the Mersey waterfront. Drew - sorry to hear that - was looking forward to meeting you at Helsby. Still some chance of recovery in time?
What : 1.25mile jog to gym into strong headwind (9:34) Gym 500m warm up then 6*800m at 10mph/16kmph with 200m recoveries at walk/slowjog pace (5-7mph) , 750m warm down all in all on the treadmill 7.25kms/4.5 miles in 32.23 1.25mile jog home, light tail wind (9:21)
Hi everyone, good news about the knee MartinH, sorry about the 'flu Drew, sounds like everyone else is doing great things.
What: cross-training in the pool, 200 metres warmup, 1500 metre easy swim, 200 metres cooldown.
Why: melting ice & slush making it too dangerous for me to run. Hopefully it will be all gone by tomorrow evening. Last easy: yesterday. Last hard: should be tomorrow's speedwork.

When I am running into the wind, it feels like there is more fresh oxygen getting into my lungs. Helps me get that bit more energy.
But granted, wind behind is good too....
