  • Hi all

Stick with it Mitchie Moo - it will be worth it in the end. Hopefully the second trimester will be a lot better, and you can start enjoying it. The fainiting could be a blood pressure problem, as you're having twins - they need a lot of your blood! I know my sister had problems with low blood pressure, and she didn't have twins, so it's a possibility.

I'm currently 8 weeks, on my first child. Only a couple of people apart from hubbie know at the moment - not even told our parents yet.

I'm feeling incredibly lucky reading this - no morning sickness, not tired, just a bit wary about what I should and shouldn't be doing. Oh - and my waistband seems to be expansing early - had to buy some bigger work trousers at the weekend, despite not actually putting on any weight according to the scales.

BTW - anyone else experience weird dreams during pregnancy? I never normally dream/remember dreaming, but every night this week I've had some really way out dreams.
  • I wouldn't say i've had weird dremas, but definetly remembering them more often and dreaming about babies a lot !!!
  • oops spelling mean't dreams not dremas !!!
  • I had LOADS of weird dreams - apparently it is quite common.
I have also heard (but never experienced myself) that erotic dreams are very common during pregnancy!!!!

(((Mitchie Moo))) sorry to hear you're still feeling so rotten. I fainted 3 times while pregnant, but I had high blood pressure.... Worth getting yourself checked out, but unfortunately I think some of us have a very hard time and some find it easier.

All worthwhile in the end though :o)
  • When would you usually start telling people? We are bursting to tell some family but I think most people wait til after their first scan, don't they??

Yesterday a neighbour commented jokingly that me and my partner are working too hard and will never have time for a family...made me giggle when I was out of earshot.
  • I everyone - I'm back to chat.
Had my 3month scan on Tues - due date 8Nov.
Now told work and everyone - is such a relief, especially since all ok'd at hosp.

Austrorunner - I told my family soonest I knew, but only immediate family. But I didnt know until I was 9wks pregnant ... on return from Stramilano Half Marathon in Milan (2Apr) - no wonder I had such a bad run / result.

    GMx
  • I'm now 17 weeks and been told i should feel the baby anytime from about 16 to 20 weeks, what does it feel like when you first feel your baby and how do you know that its not just your digestive system moving ????
  • We told immediate family straight away, and work / friends after 3 month scan. I used the rule of thumb that if something (heaven forbid!) were to go wrong would I tell those people about it, and if the answer was yes then I told them straight away.

I actually also had to tell my boss at about 7 weeks as I was suffering so badly and I didn't want him to think that I was not bothering about my job!

People feel very differently about this topic - you have to do what you feel comfortable about - my mother-in-law (bless) decided to take it upon herself to tell everyone the moment she knew, so our secret wasn't a secret for very long! Fortunately she doesn't live near us so we managed to keep it quiet mostly.

GM - congratulations that everything went well at the scan :o)
  • My feelings on this having had a miscarriage are as hegs said tell people who you would tell if something went wrong. I'm not the sort of person to keep these things quiet, and had to chat to lots of people after the miscarriage. Therefore I have told all those people who knew about my miscarriage. Only my boss at work though knows as am so ill. Best friends know and I told my Mum within half an hour of doing the test at 5 weeks.
  • Yes Hegs I looked at my BP when saw doc on monday and I'm usually very low, but it was 121/75 so higher than my normal diastolic by 20-30 or so. Am sure he knows what he's doing though so not going to worry too much just yet.
  • Yes to weird dreams as well!
  • wow, were you all planning to have the baby. My one was unexpected but a pleasant surprise. Didn't find out until 11 weeks so had to tell family asap. Had only 3 scans in total so should be nice and healthy baby!!

Congrats on everyone who are going through the same stages as me.

Good luck with everyone who is trying.

My first baby movements occurred after seeing my midwife at 20 wks and it felt like a tummy rumble but on a consistent basis after. Now its seeing physical changes in tum which is really strange.

Dreams wise: The only dream I had before becoming pregnant was goldfish and my workmates told me baby along the way!!

Got a midwife session tonight so will hear baby heartbeat - amazing to know that there is a being growing in tum and its not me getting fat!!!
  • Yes I had weird dreams and with Sadie my 1st very erotic ones too - which was great fun :-)

With Sadie and my later miscarriage we told all family and friends straight away. I am glad I did as they were such great support after the MC.

With this pregnancy we were going to tell people after about 9 weeks, but I found out on CHristmas Day and had loads of family and friends over. When I wasn't drinking they guessed anyway.

I have always left it til post scan for work.

Movements Mrs O are hard to describe. It does feel a little like your digestion. I would describe it as a bubbling or fluttering feeling.
  • Haven't had any erotic dreams yet will look forward to that ;o)

    Just very vivid and memorable.
  • ManicMan - After my 1st child I started again around 3-4months. I could have started at 6 weeks, but I did not fancy running while I was breast feeding. Personally, I did not want to aid their journey south if you get my drift! Also my body just felt a little bit out of synch before then.

Also at 3 months Sadie was in a good routine, she was sleeping through the night, I was less tired.

I have a cross trainer now so will probably do that after 6 weeks and start again around three months.

As for joggers - I am in Heg's camp. Running is my me time to be free of everything & indulge myself.

Minks - I used the womens problem stuff. They have to let you time off but your are not obliged to go into details. To be fair most people gused but...

I can understand your concern about going medical. I suppose we are a little different there - my approach is I would rather get on and know what I am dealing with. Does not mean this is the right approach and you need to do what is best for you!
  • weird !!! Do not no why this post from yesterday has popped up again! Not going mad honest!
  • Hormones - fabulous excuse I'm finding. GMx
  • Can you advise? I am concerned about running whilst pregnant. This is my fourth pregnancy (I am 7 weeks). I had a miscarriage at 8 weeks in January and one at 19 weeks last October. I have one 8 year old son. Whilst I have been told that it was okay for me to run, I am concerned that the losses were possibly something to do with my running. I don’t run particularly fast (9-10 minute miling) 24-30 miles a week. How much are you all running and have you run during previous pregnancies? When I was pregnant with my son I wasn’t a runner (did no exercise at all in fact).

And sorry to sound even more depressing but I think that it is likely that I will miscarry this pregnancy too so really need to hear some positive stories on exercising during pregnancy.
  • Hi Anje, I have only been able to run both pregnancies to 12 weeks due to complications.

I also had a miscarriage at 9 weeks in my last pregnancy. My obstetritian advised me that the running, in my case, would not have caused me to miscarry. I must stress that each case is individual though. Have you seen a specialist following your MC's?

I would perhaps advise getting medical advice 1st to be on the safe side. But if there are no issues such incompentant cervix etc you should be ok. I run at around the same pace as you.

I hope all goes well for you this time and stay positive :-)

  • I'm 13wks, and on 1st pregnancy at aged41, so I'm not risking running (my personal choice, no official medical advice given).
But can highly recommend power-walking. Do this at least twice a week, more if poss, and your fitness levels will stay up.
If you're in South London area, come to Stragglers on Mon (Kingston), and Thu (Ham) eves were organised groups go out. I went for 1st time last night and it certainly was hard work - and am thrilled to be 'out' again.

  • I was training for a marathon in September when found out I was pregnant last time. I run 6-8 min miling so quite fast, and was running 90 mile weeks. I found out at 6 weeks after two heavy weeks and a half-marathon, and discovered the baby has died at 6 weeks at the 12 week scan. I really worry it was my running although I have been assured it wasn't. This time I haven't run or done anything in fact mainly cos so ill, but also trying to be very cautious as I have two babies in there!

Please stay positive, I have negative thoughts too, but I do feel better about it all this time. So fingers crossed for us all. Am very nervous this week my dating scan is on thursday.
  • hello everyone!

i'm back from the loire, which was very 'nice' but unspectacular. not our usual kind of holiday - which normally involves trekking somewhere remote!

glad to see everyone has been busy in my absence and that we have lots of new members! :-)

clare - i'm really pleased that everything is going well for you! and mitchie moo - hold on in there. and good luck for your dating scan!

as for me, i'm sooooo tired. i just CANNOT stay asleep for more than an hour and then am awake again for several hours before getting another hour's sleep and then waking up again. i reckon on average i'm getting about 3 hours a night. :-((

back to work today and, because of dear old BT, we have no phone line at home so i am having to commute probably for the rest of the week (it's an underground fault and estimated repair time is 5pm friday!) on a daily basis to the office in birmingham, which - although it's only 100 miles away - takes me about 3 hours each way due to the M42. so that's nice and relaxing! will do wonders for my BP as well, i should imagine!

i'm 31 weeks now and apart from being soo tired due to not sleeping, i'm feeling absolutely fine. i think i must be really fortunate, as i still have plenty of energy, have no indigestion, no back pain, no swelling, no cramp - literally the ONLY problem i'm having is not sleeping. so i'm not going to complain!

have done no running since 26 weeks but we did do lots of country walks on holidays, up to about 9 miles, and i managed them with absolutely no problems at all (apart from the odd bit of stitch).

right - time to catch up on all these emails and settle down to my last 4 weeks at work! :-)
  • MM, keeping everything crossed for thursday.
  • Welcome back Caramel. Sounds like nice hols. I am also not sleeping but more than you by the sounds of it. I keep waking up at 3am, then am wide awake. Yet go to bed at 10pm exhausted. Am hoping it will pass.

    Thanks mrs o, fingers crossed.
  • mm - i think sleeping is all a bit random during pregnancy because of hormones! i haven't really slept 'properly' since i've been pregnant. but this is the worst it's been and i don't suppose it's going to get any better! the thing is, i don't even have to get up to the loo in the night as the baby is still quite high up so not putting pressure on my bladder at the mo. so i'm not uncomfortable; nothing hurts; i don't need the loo; i'm not always hungry or thirsty (although sometimes i am); i just don't know why i wake up. i think it must be hormones!
  • Hormones - dont we just love Mother Nature!

Congrats MM on your double-wammy. Fingers crossed for Thu.

    GMx
  • I am not having too much trouble sleeping - apart from waking very early each morning grr!

I am having very vivid dreams though - last night I was making lurve to Patrick Mower!!!!! Not nice :-( Why couldn't it be Johnny Depp!
  • Thx for the giggle re.yr dream CD - OMG, have U told your partner? - GMx
