Forgot to add a few!!
Just done my LSR, 5 miles down, game to referee tomorrow so no rest day for me till monday!
Ferretmaster, the organisation was a bit slack and the large reservoir we had to cross was up to 4 feet deep with fast undercurrents and was quite scary, but i did manage to come second overall so it was a very good race for me.
I used 1023's for a year, got through about 3 pair! They were good, but had little cushioning. As I got faster and stronger they felt a bit flat.
Not had any probs with them and they lasted as well as could be expected.
As long as you get the right style, as in neutral, etc, you should be okay with them. I got the 1023 as I am light , hence little cushioning, and am a neutral runner.
Cheers Biastai, I'll check out the 1023 on their web site.(I'm neutral too) I've been using a pair of Saucony Grid Triumph II which have gone flat after about 300 miles. Bit disappointing considering the cost. Before that used Nike Pegasus which did well for 600+ Just thought I'd give new balance a go.
I'm doing the Liverpool half this year as well. Does anyone know if its the same course as the 13-10k that used to be staged in September or is it a different route?
Thanks for the link. Whoever had the great idea of making going up Parliament Hill the 9th mile certainly isn't getting a Christmas card off me this year :(Thanks for the

I'm looking forward to this race more and more - especially after doing 13.2m at the weekend in 2:14 - must be a fighting chance of sub 2 on the day. I have also been scoping out equivalent hills to stick late on in my long runs so parliament st doesn't slow me down too much; I have been doing a decent bit of hillwork for the garburn trail anyway.
my racing plans for the year; slight off-road theme apart from the half: Jan: Hit the Trail 5m in Stockport (40:36) Feb: Standish Hall 10K in Wigan (great race if you like mud and hills) March: 10K (says so in the schedule but haven't decided which one yet) and Liverpool half April: Hawkshead Trail May: Gin Pit 5 June: Garburn Trail July: not sure, but will probably do the wirral seaside run and maybe something else. August: Tywyn Race the Train 14.75m Sep: Derwentwater trail Oct: whatever the last of the trail series is called Nov: maybe Llandudno 10m Dec: sleeping, probably I'll probably try to sneak in a couple of local races I enjoyed last year if I can too - Birkenhead Park and the Thurstaston Multi-terrain are contenders.

Thanks
Been thinking about buying some New Balance shoes. Anyone got any good or bad experience of New Balance kit?
