Sketch shows seem to have taken over from sitcoms. Show a bit of comedy potential & you get your own show. I find CT sometimes funny but it's generally the same (chavvy teen, swearing granny, closeted old gay man etc.) each week. The 'ginger' sketch was a classic though.
Day Today & other Chris Morris stuff was usually top-quality though. Can't beat a bit of cake.....
You are right nrg she's not top class like that list but she's not that bad is she? Must admit I've only seen her show a few times so maybe the joke just hasn't worn thin yet.
Popsider: CT is just a bit too "In Yer Face" for me. Also, she will make a joke...and then state it again....and then re-state it once more....ad infinitum. Aaargh!
Paul Whitehouse: On The Fast Show and Harry Enfield Show - he's Quality!
"Does my face look bovvered?" is quite funny and fairly clever. But the rest of the show is tired and reeks of 80's sketch comedy.
I can remember when the new wave of alternative comics took us away from jokes about old people and gingers. CT and LB are hitting really easy targets.
A lot of current sketch-based shows are lazy, formula "comedy" with invented characters and "catchphrases" that relieve the writers of any need to display wit. It's all so tired, been done before ... I'm old enough to remember Dick Emery ("Ooooh you ARE awful!")
But I don't mind, each to their own and so on.
What I DO object to is the marketing of Little Britain to kids. Funny or not is irrelevant. It's ADULT material.
To answer the question, I definitely get her sense of humour, and like her a lot. Didn't realise she was so unpopular among runners. Most people I know seem to find her find her funny and clever.
Just a personal view but I don't find her humour dated at all.
The trick is to know when to stop. John Cleese knew when to pull the plug on Fawlty Towers as did Ricky Gervais with The Office. Result, arguably the best two sit-coms in telly history.
Little Britain is just tired now. Seen it all before (ooh we had people being sick in the last series, we'll have people weeing in this one) wont be watching it again.

The corruption of a nation's children by two chaps of dubious character.
