    LMUH & Shades,

Thanks.  I'm beginning to get really frustrated and just want to get back to work.

  • HY4- you must be very frustrated being stuck at home for so long. When are you due to go back to work?

LMUH- You just swam a couple of milesimage To me that is a very long way to swim. You have loads of stamina so i am sure you will do well in your half.

Bootsie- get well soon and like LMUH says- rest for at least another day.

Shades- i have been very careful about my head the last few days. I am naturally very clumsy and accident prone and am always walking into doors and walls. When are you off to Shannon?

James- wow! you did alot of races last year! I wish my husband would think about cleaning the toilets. I don't think the thought ever enters his mind.

VR- I think it's great that you live near Shades and get to travel with her to some of your races. Does she let you use her chanel bubble bath?

  • shades, i've had a good run of it i think for the last couple of months.. I definately have a weak chest so pick up chest infections too easily.. got pneumonia when i was 17 and always struggled in the winter since then.. not to worry.. easier in ireland cause they giv eyou anti biotics much quicker.. just not as easy here!

    SiJ,

I was due back at work on Tuesday on a graduated return however as I knew I couldn't drive (especially) and type with both hands what's the point when you work in a call centre?  I'm hoping that the doc has the report from the Fracture Clinic on Monday so she can make a decision about how long I need and if a graduated return is the correct thing.

  • SiJ - Lol! No, we would smell the same then!

Shades - Yes it was Shannon *runs off to check*

  • Shades - Dublin it is then.  Have just worked out how you're doing so many squats in a day, you're splitting them up and it makes a lot of sense because they burn at about 40.  image

Bootsie - wishing you better soon.  It's definitely looking like Dublin.  image

James - LOL at you thinking about cleaning the toilet.  Not my favourite job and that would slow me up from going home too.  Your wife is very lucky to have you clean the toilet, which puts you in the unique male breed group.  image

VR - it's not just the hairy black labrador floor in the toilet, but all the polystyrene beads from the products that seem to blow in from the factory - absolute nightmare as it sticks to your clothing and shoes and goes home.  image

Mrs Mac - Dublin it is then!  Know what you mean about first day back at work - that was Tuesday, 4th January for me.  image

LMUH - sounds like you've sorted the little perisher before it got nasty and good thing that your tri training is always on hand to help you out.  image

Mowzer - great to hear you've done the First Aid course.  Well done!  Haven't experienced a broken bone sticking out a leg/arm yet.  imageimage

SiJ - excellent running.  Bet it feels good to be back running.  Most men won't put their hand and beg us to clean the toilet.  Only a unique breed of man would do such a nice thing.  image

Excellent 5 miler last night (first time sub 1 hr - 59.10 image), then 30 push ups, 30 squats and finally 30 squats and a good stretch.  I was bushed last night and will have to gradually increase reps.  Target is 50 of each exercise and then onwards and upwards - I will get strong in 2011!!!  Have a great evening everybody, I have the dubious task of getting my flu jab tonight.  image

  • I can't stop thinking about Butler's undercrackers now and it's all your fault....image
  • Good running Flossie.

Have to agree about the men and cleaning the toilet thing - though Mark has once cleaned the bathroom in the five years we've lived together - not sure that included putting his hand down the loo mind!

If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.
  • Men never clean the loo like a woman can.

And It would REALLY help if Mr LB wouldn't use the same cloth to wipe round all the sinks after he's cleaned the loo bowl.image

  • LB - get out there and go for a run then to take your mind off it - our team needs a boost!image

Ice Age is back again hereimage - feels more treacherous underfoot than it did before Christmas as there is a thin layer of ice covered in a very thin snowy layer and quite slippy. Chickened out of JS and ran in the daylight as I had a half day. Feel a wimp!

SiJ - good to have you back running again.image. I felt like someone who'd never run before today so slow and took a lot of effort - the snow/too much lunch or just plain sloth?imageimage.

I usually think of nice things at home like a hot drink or making a pot of soup in time for lunch when I'm doing a long run and speed up too much at the end. Wish I could do it in a race! Really need a prod in the right direction to get a long run in this weekend, haven't done one for such a long time - and it's looking like being snowy.image

  • LB - Do you mind!!!! It's tea time...Jeeeeze
  • Elspeth - scheduled rest day for me as I'm exhausted and feeling a bit icky. I have 3, 9, and 5 planned for Sat, Sun, Mon!

Sorry to hear Narnia has returned. It's not looking too hopeful here either. I HATE snow! Have I mentioned that? image

  • Yes I do clean the toilet. I also always put the seat down and check to make sure I have not left anything for the next visitor to find. Must be something to do with growing up in a house with 4 woman and only one toilet. It was not worth the grief leaving it any other way.

SiJ - not until April, we're off to do this http://www.connemarathon.com/

of course VR can borrow my Chanel, she's never asked!

bootsie - you must dread the winter and all those nasty viruses going around.

Flossie - brilliant running, well done.   And on the squats etc.   I've been told to do my squats in batches, I think the idea is to try and keep some flexibility and not allow the injury site to stiffen up.

LMH - well once is a lot more than most men have ever cleaned a bathroom or a toilet.

  • LB - OK then, will let you off. Shades will be able to check up on us all on the comp site to make sure we've not been slacking! I have been a bit this week, should have made more of an effort while we were snow freeimage.

Connemara would be nice, wouldn't fit in with annual leave plans (only at the plans stage) this year but who knows about next?! So probably Lochaber for me.

Mrs Mac - I am about to start bombarding you with questions about D33 so if you want to hide you have been warned!image

  • ....sneaks out from hidey hole to report I had to come home early from work because of a blinding headacheimage

    Its ok Elspeth, ask awayimage

  • Where is the competition site? Did i miss something?

Mrs Mac- You do get a lot of headaches. Are you still taking your anti-d's?

Elspeth- you never slack! Are you keeping a running diary this year. i think you will be suprised at the amount of long runs that you actually do.

  • Shades and VR- the connemarathon looks awesome. I presume you are doing the marathon and not the ultra?

  • SiJ - go to the RWUKvRWUSA thread, don't know how to put link up. Basically a competition for Jan on which side runs the most miles/runner.

Mrs Mac - hope you're feeling better nowimage. Forgotten what I was going to ask, but how far from centre of Aberdeen is the start, if I come on the overnight boat we get in at 7am - but maybe a bit dodgy getting there for the start if boat is running late. What sort of terrain is it? Road or trail shoes?

Didn't see Mr Mac's name on the entry list, is he otherwise occupied?

  • Glad you're on the mend SiJ. I've been anti-d free since the start of September. I've been troubled by bad headaches for years. Been through the system test-wise, even to specialist dentists as teh thought was TMJ dysfunction. Ended up given limitless painkillers and left to itimage

Elspeth, I'll be driving up on the race morning so I could pick you up. MrMacs working.

Feeling a wee bit better but got a bombshell when MrMac got home. His Mum's got Breast cancerimage She already has had MS for 15 years so this is all she needs.

    (((Mrs Mac)))

Hugs to everyone in your family.

  • Mrs Mac - very sorry to hear that, hope all goes well for her with treatment.
  • Managed 7 miles this morning, nice steady constant pace give or take a little naturally. 9:40ish pace iirc.

Will have to spend time over the next few days moving things around so the workers can get to everything on Monday when they fit the new boiler etc for the heating system. Also must remember NOT to stay up late tomorrow night as the parts are coming between 8 and 12 on Saturday morning. Hopefully it snows like buggery tomorrow and they come at a senisble time. When i had the kitchen done last summer the bloody plumber turned up at 7am!!! no one told me they'd be that early.

  • So sorry to hear about your MiL Mrs Mac, I hope she has a good outcome. Hope that your headache clears soon too - have you tried the forehead stick? It doesn't cure mine (get some real crackers around my jab) but it definitely gives some relief and I use lavender oil and a cold eye mask too.

Elspeth - I think you should keep a running diary too.

Keith - hope they can fix your boiler quickly if you're hoping for snow!

If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.
  • ??? I never posted that then, i was busy mixing chemicals at that time. Poxy works computers on a go slow no doubt.

LMUH - Lol being the snow is due before they are that might be tricky. Current one works anyway. Metcheck has snow from tomorrow afternoon right through to sat daytime which is clear, then more for sat night. Metoffice have snow then sleet tomorrow and rain sat night.

    (((Mrs Mac)))

  • HM4HM4 ✭✭✭

    Keith,

Metcheck has sleet for us & it was rain all day.

  • mowzermowzer ✭✭✭

(((Mrs Mac))) - sorry to hear about your MiL. Let's hope for a positive outcome.  Are your headaches migraines?  When I get a migraine I can take 100s of pain killers (including the Nurofen migraine ones) without any effect, but one of my prescription tablets works within 15 mins.

HY4 - Only a 2 day course which now includes pediatric first aid - apparently everyone working with young children now has to do it.

Back to proper work today. We have some nice new computers in our suite, however 'they' have done something with the internet/network and I couldn't connect my school laptop to the internet at all. I took my laptop home for the holidays which (I think) is the reason it doesn't work, however the teacher who left hers at school can connect to the internet but can't find any of her documents. Home one still not working properly either image.

Elspeth - your ordinary runs are always much longer than other peoples image. What is the D33?

  • SHADESSHADES ✭✭✭✭

MrsMac - so sorry to hear the news about your MiL.

Elspeth - you would love Connemara, hope you can go next year but if you left it this late to enter you'd have to do the ultra as the marathon is already full.

SiJ - I was going to to run the ultra at Conne but changed my mind and now VR and I will run the Invtational marathon on the Saturday and then the race marathon on the Sundayimage

mowser - you dont' have much luck with computersimage

8.5 miles for me today and did 5 last night.   I'm feeling a bit tired now, 7 days without a rest day but will be able to get more rest over the weekend so should be OK, hammy still OK but once again not very cold here

  • We're forecast snow most of today then tomorrow it gets windy and rains - just what I don't need for my come back run - that might be enough to put me off the 16 miler!

mowzer - what a pain, hope you can get it sorted.

If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.
  • HM4HM4 ✭✭✭

    Shades,

Good to hear things are progressing.

    -------

    LMUH,

Hope you can get out for a run.  They say that the snow is meant to gp quickly.
