Tracey, I'm still a novice when it comes to races as I haven't done that many. But this year I'm gonna do lots more if everything goes ok. I think my best distance is 10K so after FLM I gonna do loads of 10K races and see how much I can bring my PB down by. Then start training for Abin. I think the trick is to main a LSR of about 13M all the time even when not marathon training. Not easy I know.
I have said no more maras for me but hubby wants to do abingdon again so i may support him but not along side! For those thinking of doing this as a first marathon, its a good flat course with great marshalls and a supportive forum presence.
I've had a bit of a slob since Bath Half, have white horse half this weekend. Noticed the love handles appearing while in the bath so have now entered for this year!
Looks like the effort to get rid of the handles won't be worth it as I'll stay single through the months of training!
See you all there again this year, but not looking forward to the airport loop..
katieb - and I think it will fill up faster this year, always a huge forumite presence.
A group from my running club are going to Abingdon, last night there were discussions on the t-shirts we will have printed and apparantly we are having bobble hats knitted too - as sort of team leader I've managed to get an exemption from the bobble hat!
I wouldn't fancy running 26 miles in a bobble hat!
As for filling up. Two years ago people camped over the night to do entries in the morning. The race filled up last year around August time I seem to think. However, the buzz around this race has grown each year, and rightly so, so will probably fill up even sooner. My advice is to enter and do the event. You won't regret it.
Fortunately, the bobble hats will be for pre and post festivities, t-shirts too, as we will run in club kit. Just watch out Alan for 15 women in bobble hats

The course was the first I ever did. Nice and flat, friendly bunch of people. Stadium finish. Don't know about your training time constrants, but this is a real good one to select for a first.
It's in the bag I think. If i do decide to do a marathon this year, it will be this one. I just have to be sure this isn't "just left my job" madness....

had better start running.
I've just had to drop out of FLM so have decided its an Autumn Mara again for me this year. Abingdon here I come...
Not sure I've got the time to cope with 7 months of this thread though!
Sylish - I have been trying to get my half marathon time down.
ICRAM - Sorry to hear you will not be doing FLM.
No particular reason at all.....just wondered, if this gets full early? Just wondered, y'know....

I've entered again for this year!!!!!! But I'm not telling anyone until nearer the time when I've started to put in the proper training.
Not planning any other races until September (to tie in with training) so I'll just have one focus.
So shhhh & pretend you didn't hear that :-)
By the way, you haven't seen me, right?
;-)
plenty of time to train, lose weight and PANIC!!!!
better not get injured this year, see you all there!
Have you put your entry in yet, Katie?
(Although, really, I'm tempted to just enter...)
