adidas Flora Liverpool Half Marathon

Hurray!!!

A new forum via the events page.

Did any-one use the pacing groups last year, and if so did they work. I want to improve on the 1hr 50 last year, but training not going well, so may need a pacer to better the time.

  • I think there was another forum about this race but I looked for it in events the other day and couldn't find it.

I'm going for 2 hours, so unless I go for a huge negative split I'm going to be running pretty close to the 9 min pacers anyway, but haven't used them before - this is the first race I've seen them in.

    Good luck.
  • Found it

here goes attempt at link: (just copy and paste the bit out of the middle cos it won't work

  • wow, it actually did.
  • Treadmiller - Hello - Still sticking with the Blackpool survivor photo - Have you entered another Marathon yet?

I used a "virtual partner" on my Garmin to run a 1:51 (My watch time anyway) at the Brass Monkey. I was ahead of him most of the way until the last 3 miles and then I struggled to keep up the pace.

Not so Skinny Jim (NSSJ) has bet me that I can't do Liverpool in 1:45 - I bet I can!

If I ever get out to do some training that is - currently sitting here feeling like cr*p with a horrendous cold sore
  • As a first time visitor to Liverpool and the half marathon, can anybody tell me where the shuttle buses pick people up from. I will be booking accomodation in Liverpool city centre and I know there are shuttle buses I just don't now where they start from.

    thanks
  • Hi Tina Its all on the map though there are no real details on the site. THe shuttle bus seems to go from Queens Wharf (Near the Albert Dock) and stops just past the assembly area at Sefton Park.

    Map here

    Liverpool Half Map
  • Tina, Shuttle bus does indeed go from Queens Wharf car park. This was very efficient last year. There are a few hotels/motels round that area just look for Albert Dock or Wapping on the hotel addresses, the IBIS is close, cheap and OK.
  • PeteMed

Thanks for the tip I've booked.

It's a bit close to Toxteth!!!
  • Hod, it's directly acorss the road from the Albert Dock and Car Park is secure. I've stayed there a few times for nights out and it's been fine.
  • Im staying there on the Sunday as well. Is it near the night life?
  • Liverpool City Centre is reasonably compact. Everything is within about a mile or so radius but I don't go into town any more (It is particularly for young people) so you need to find out where its all happening - you'll probably find plenty of guides to Liverpool Nightlife on the Web I would think or play it by ear when you get here.

  • Loads of bars at the Albert Dock. V chic.
  • Hod, Short walk into town. Cougie is right about Albert Dock, but it does come at a price! Depends what you're into I suppose.
  • Does anybody know if I can download an event entry form for this event or does it have to be entered on line ?
  • Stephen - download one from the online entry page:

  • HI THERE
I DID THIS RUN LAST YEAR AND IT WAS MY FIRST HALF MARATHON ITS WELL WORTH DOING IT WAS VERY WELL ORGANISED LOADS OF WATER STOPS AND A COUPLE OF LUCOZADE STOPS AS WELL ITS QUITE A FAST COURSE SO PBS ARE A POSSIBILITY.I MANAGED 1HR 50MINS WHICH I WAS WELL CHUFFED WITH IT BEING MY FIRST HALF.HOPING FOR UNDER 1HR 45 THIS YEAR TRAINING IS GOING OK AT THE MOMENT.IF THEY STICK TO THE SAME COURSE THEN THERE IS ONLY ONE BIG HILL WHICH WAS QUITE TOUGH BUT APART FROM THAT QUITE FLAT REALLY.
I DONT LIVE IN LIVERPOOL JUST OUTSIDE(ST HELENS)BUT IF YOUR LOOKING FOR A GOOD NIGHT OUT THEN YOUR SORTED MATTHEW STREET IS QUITE LIVELY ON A SUNDAY.QUITE A FEW BARS ON ALBERT DOCK BUT CAN BE QUITE EXPENSIVE(THATS WHY A FEW PREM FOOTBALLERS LIVE THERE)
GOOD LUCK ITS WELL WORTH DOING
  • Not signed up for this yet, but defo gonna do it. Really enjoy it last year! (I've no excuse either, coz i only live a few miles away).

Anyone doing the Great Northwest half in Blackpool, 2 weeks before this?
  • Anyone got Garmin Data for this one that they could email to me?
  • Mr Happy - mail me - got an mmo file from last year.
  • Hello all
This may sound like a silly question but I wondered if anybody knew what sort of time you should arrive at the start line - I'm new to half marathons and to liverpool, plus I'm travelling down from leeds and don't want to get myself into a pickle on the day!

    Would really appreciate some advice!

    Thanks,

    Sarah
  • Hi Sarah - there's another thread on this which you might get more response from.

    here
  • Sarah - if you are using the official car parks, then be there to catch a bus. But, as the final instructions say, the last bus is cutting it fine. If it's a warm / dry day, get there handy and soak up the atmosphere. If not, still get there handy, but rememebr your bin bag! Allow at least 30 minutes at the start to deposit kit bag, visit toilet etc. Time can soon go, I'll probably aim to arrive an hour early.

To plan your journey look at www.tophalfmarathons.co.uk/map_info - this info should be in the post to us all very soon. They give good directions for driving, assuming that's how you are getting across. Straight down the M62 then follow directions for the south car park.
  • Has anyone received their number and details for this race yet? I'm sure I registered on-line for it but so far have not received anything.
  • No but they should be with us all any day now
  • Many Thanks.
