Right guys, have spoken with the manager of the James Joyce. They can provide a buffet for around 8 euros a head. Apparently it is a very copious buffet and can be served on the open mezzanine of the main pub. That way we'd have the mezzanine for us with the food and could mingle up there and in the main part of the pub. Much cheaper than sitting down to dinner and lots more social too. What do we think? I asked about the first floor but it'd be 250 euros to book for the evening with our own barman, plus the cost of drinks and if we decided, buffet.

Need to confirm next week and give them a cheque for at least half the cost if we decide on food so let me know asap.

Oh yes, and he said they don't have a problem if we have a few children with us. We'll just set up a colouring corner... it worked pretty well last year eh? :)

    Sounds good to me too....

Great work Rach. 5 maybe 6 adults for the buffet plus me 2 kids. If you want an advance cheque let me know...always the possibility I may not make it
  • Options
    Great!

We have an apartment at Rue la Condamine
    - just around the corner from what I can see!

There will be a definite two adults, with a probable two adults and two chidren. I can send a cheque or transfer money if you wish.
  • Options
Rach, as regards the cheque, etc. just advise...
  • Options
Don't worry about sending money. I'll wait to hear that the majority want to go ahead with the buffet, sort it with the pub, then just go round with a list and collect the euros on the night.
  • Options
Happy to go along with this Rach, thanks very much :)

    Rach

Glad the race isn't in Edinburgh - I'd be pants at doing the organisation that you have managed.

Can you add myself and wife to le buffet.

Getting excited now and looking forward to the weekend + beer + wine etc etc. Reckon I'll be closer to 4:30 now but still going to give the 4:00 a bash. Still a bloater!

Thanks for doing all the stuff!

Another timeless classic from Kitty's that heady night back in March 2000

I have fallen for another she can make her own way home And even if she asked me now I’d let her go alone
I useta see her up the chapel when she went to Sunday mass

And when she’d go up to receive, I’d kneel down there and watch her pass
    The glory of her ass

I useta to love her, I useta love her once

    A long, long time ago

I useta to love her, I useta love her once

    A long long time ago

It’s gone , all my lovin’ is gone
It’s gone , all my lovin’ is gone

D’you remember her collecting for concern on Christmas eve
She was on a forty eight hour fast just water and black tea
I walked right up and made an ostentatious contribution
And I winked at her to tell her I’d seduce her in the future
    When she’s feelin looser

    Chorus

So now you know the truth of it she’s no longer my obsession
Though the thoughts and dreams i had of her would take six months in confession
See i met this young one Thursday night and she’s inta free expression
And her mission is to rid the world of this sinful repression
    Then we had a session

    Chorus

    It’s gone , long , long gone
I have fallen for another and she can make her own way home

Why is it that these classic songs can only be sung when drunk?

    Hi Rach,

We'd be up for the buffet, but only if there is some veggie options. I know from experience Paris doesn't always cater well for us veggies, so if they can't we'll eat before. However, if it makes the difference between no buffet for anyone else, we'll happily pay the fee anyway.

    Thanks for all this.

I'm sure they'll make provision for veggies. I'm not really a meat eater myself. Do you eat fish, eggs, dairy?

    Hail Hail

Coops - is this who you're bringing to Paris? Sounds like your type!

Steady on Doylie - you are English - not Irish. ANymore outbursts of shite songs and I'll start on the immortal "Under the Clocks"

Yes RB...getting far too much like a normal Saturday in Coatbridge for an Airdrie man ;-)....besides, I prefer Shane's drunken (is he ever anything but) version of 'Dirty Old Town'
