Hope everyone had a nice time and received lots of prezzies. We have eaten far too much and I shall not be venturing near the scales until mid February when I might have shifted a couple of ounces!
I didn't run on Christmas morning as planned as it didn't seem fair on hubby, so we both went out on Boxing Day morning and he ran the full 2 miles. He was very pleased with himself and I was most impressed. I then carried on and did a further 5.5 hilly miles but felt I could have run forever as it was such a lovely morning.
We have got so much snowf here and everywhere looks beautiful. Yesterday we woke to about 3 inches which was topped up throughout the day, melted, then froze overnight making the lanes treacherous this morning. Needless to say, this morning's run was on the treddy.
It's just started snowfing again, great big flakes too. I quite like being snowfed in ;-)))))))
DaveC, have you got snowf too? I'm never sure if we're further East than you.
JJ, I must complain about the lack of festive spirit around in TWells when my husband and I visited on Christmas Eve. Not a brass band or carol singer in sight. Most unimpressive. Please try harder next year.
Gozzie, sorry to hear you're still unwell. You must get yourself in better shape for next year so I can beat you at Brighton again (if you're still down here then) ;-P
Not sure that my showing at the Serpies 10k on NYD will be at all impressive as I feel like a Weeble (do you remember the song, 'Weebles wobble but they don't fall down'?). Never mind. It's nothing that the loss of a couple of stones of lard and a punishing training schedule can't sort out!
Hello, hope everyone had a great time. No snowf here, just thick frost which is lovely to look at and not so good to run on in places. However I did manage to run a whole four miles this morning without stopping to walk. I was very pleased with myself. I love my garmin which, when I did the first run with it, told me I had been running further than I thought.:-))
Red. Yes we've got quite a deep covering of snow up here on Wrotham hill,we had quite a lot of trouble getting home from relatives last night with the car skiding everywhere(dont buy a lexus for icy roads).
Sounds as though you are having a good time Reddy. Everyone beat me at Brighton as I DNS (0: The year before I seemed to spend more time walking while I searched for tissues (as I was getting over yet another cold even then!)than I spent running! If I were fit I'd threaten to beat you at Canterbury again, but I'll be lucky to walk it this year, nevermind race !
I certainly haven't put weight on over Christmas. I rarely do as I get full very quickly,so although I eat different food at Christmas I don't eat more, even when well!
Hi everyone! Cna't get near the computer at the mo - at least not long enough to read back or chat.
JJ, I'm not sure if you are still thinking of racing on Friday. I've left a message for Lars/ Groundhog on the 10K thread asking them to let us know if the race is cancelled. I remember one month the course was icy and they wouldn't take the risk/responsibility.
I hope the 10K is on as I've managed to do the training for once. Did 7 miles steady this morning. It was cold. I fell over once on the ice but no apparent injury has resulted.
hi all - white flaky stuff still coming out of the sky, it's not stopped for 36 hours now, the snow ploughs have been up and down the street all day. We've been for a lovely hike in the forest with the dogs, about 10km round trip with a stop midway for a drink at the Oppauer Haus (guesthouse in the woods). Spent a pleasant hour chatting with a gang of retired gentlemen who, we were pleased to find, had also walked there from the village car park instead of driving. Good on them!
Does anyone know if one is allowed to consume Red Bull during a race? It seems unlikely that Waitrose would sell an illegal performance enhancing drug, but you never know.
LL-I don't see why not,as the main ingredient that gives a 'kick' is caffeine-Which is also present in some energy gels. Would be too gassy for me though !
Hi Jim, sorry your day wasn't good, luckily I don't have to report in to work until next Tuesday. Listening to Neil Young was a master stroke, I'm sure that improved your mood.
JJ - we all need some down-time once in a while. Don't feel bad, I fell asleep on the sofa after dinner.
Hi IWiNYEm - It could be worse, but today was when A/P check requests were due. It's also yearend, which compounds the situation. Hope next year is better than this year.
