The 10k at Fountains Abbey this year was a Cancer Research 10k spring event. They had 5 on the same day at various country houses etc around the country. Fountains was a first for them as they hadn't done one there before. The course was roads and tracks with lots of cross country through the deer park. And as it had been raining since November there was a little bit of mud! A good fun day out, especially as Nell McAndrew took the warm up and started the race!
just to answer your question, Hellen, from a week or so ago, yes, the Seabank marathon is from Skeg to Boston. It's not exactly runner-friendly though, what with gates to climb over, holes to turn your ankle in and overgrown paths to hack through. So maybe I'm being sensible in not doing it this year.
I'm recoverin nicely from Sheffield as well, just thinkin about goin out for a gentle run tomorrow. Next half is Humberside lookin forward to running over the bridge. I was debating the 10k but think I'll save the bridge till the half
i was thinking about it too flanker, until i saw that postal entries closed today i think. also think i need to stop myself at the minute but certainly was very tempted!
No they don't! Ignore RW. According to the entry form the closing date is 1st of June. I've filled mine out - I'm just waiting for a couple of days to make sure I've got no after effects from WP. I've mailed the organiser to check whether there are places left too.
I'll mail you the entry form just to tempt you further! Go on, you know you want to!
<thinks apologetic thoughts about being a bad influence!>
Excuse me being ignorant, but did I meet you at the finish?! I was on such a high it's all a bit of a blur. And by the time I'd had a shower and a chat to some of the 100 Club guys while getting changed everyone had disappeared!
flanker no mate not met yet but i have seen you in passing ,at last years turkey trot , and no doubt will see you in the future ,as like you running keeps me sane
i did wait for about 40mins but my legs where killing me so took off
Is this hill at 9 Mile as bad as people say. Is it really a mile long hill?? What is the gradient like?? Hope its not too hot or I may be walking it.......
earlier in this thread is a link too a google gmap thing which has all the nice details regarding this hill........ look if you dare....lol. its steep and about a mile long!!!!! i cant wait...... no realy i cant...... no one told me bout this blasted climb till after i entered.
Hi Guys, I have entered this one...not sure it was such a good idea...is there a time limit on it? My best pal has lived in Barton Upon Humber for 4 years and my visits tend to coincide with this race so decided this year to do it!!
And yes I know the hill at 9 miles and its long enough driving it let alone running it...LOL!!
My number is 146 and I think i will be bringing up the rear!! LOL
decided not to drive up in morning now so were going to stay in a hotel nearby, should be easier for parking too. just need to try and avoid work the following day now....... for recovery from THE HILL lol.shezza i wouldnt worry bout finishing last...... i may have the monopoly on that one.... dont like hills.

It's either this or the Cross Wales 42. Which really appeals as a first run/walk ultra. Hmmm ... decisions.
repeat after me
running is very addictive
