Desert Island

OK what with musical and nostalgia threads, I was to start a desert island thread. Similar to desert island discs.

You're going to be marooned on a desert island for the rest of your life - the desert island contains the following:
1.A limitless supply of running shoes.
2.Lots of fresh water.
3.Matches to start a fire.

You can take with you.
1. One book.
2. One foodstuff (assume you can take a limitless supply.
3. One CD.
4. One film.

My starter for ten.

1. Das Kapital by Karl Marx - I always wanted to say I had read it but I've never got further than halfway down the first page.
2. Chicken - I don't care about carbs MUST have my weekly roast chicken.
3. Led Zep IV - surely the greatest collection of songs ever written.
4. Groundhog day - funnier every time I watch and very appropriate.

  • 1. Finnegan's Wake - might actually work out what the hell it's about
    2. Endless supply of red wine
    3. Orange Juice's first album (I know, such bad taste!)
    4.Bedknobs and Broomsticks or Pornography

Foodstuff - Good beer (not hard for me 'cause I think all beer is good).
CD - Hunky Dory, David Bowie - never heard a better album and expect I never will.
Film - Castaway - I'm a city boy, what do I know about desert islands? Might get some ideas.

Martin, can we assume that there's a CD player, a video player, a TV and a reliable source of electricity? If there is, why would they have electricity on a uninhabited island? But I digress......

Book: Batsford's modern chess openings, because it would take years to understand it fully and keep me occupied, when I'm not running.
Food: Roast Chicken & salad sandwiches on wholemeal bread with mayonaise and a bottled red wine garnish.
CD: Queen - Its a kind of magic
Film: Pulp Fiction, although Snicks pornography sound quite tempting.

By the way, do you know if there are any plans for a 10k on the island?
  • Hi all. I like this desert island idea!

Book: The Oxford Textbook of Clinical Medicine if I can have both volumes. Les Miserables if textbooks aren't allowed.

Food: Jelly Bellies. I'd use the liquorice flavoured ones as bait to catch fishes and eat the rest myself.

CD: The River - Bruce Springsteen.

    Film: Natural Born Killers.
