Is it too early to start a list? Yes, of couse it is, but I'll start one anyway so that I can see how far out I will be with my prediction come August.
Quite tough in places because of the heat. The only time a marshal has pointed me in the wrong direction happened in this race in 2002 or 2003. I managed to run an extra mile as a result.
But it's a very nice location, mainly wooded, if a bit undulating in places. Lots of rich people politely clapping as you pass their des rezzes.
This is the only race where I've been lapped. Twas a few years ago. A couple of Kenyans turned up to collect the prize money and scored a 1-2 in some ridiculous time. I was plodding along happily when these two tall skinny black guys with big grins effortlessly floated past me and then turned off back to the field with the finishing line. Just a little Sunday jog for them, they'd barely broken into a sweat. By the time I got in they'd have had their showers and be putting their feet up at home ...
This is a big one for me. I was down as a DNF in 2004 I think becuase, stupidly, I ran on an injury & put myself out of action for about 6 weeks.
I told a marshall at about mile 8 that I was injured but there was no one to help me so it was either wait for help or walk to the finish. I came in over 3 hours & didn't even apear on the results probablt becuase the thoughtful marshall ha radioed ahead to let them know I was coming in injured.
Finally got round to doing this in 2004 - and really enjoyed it. Shame it disappeared last year (although it meant I could return to the Isle of Wight half, which always seemed to clash!) - but it's great to see Burnham back, and I must get my entry in. Seem to remember it being a pretty popular event, and rightly so.

Just realised I can enter online - and with Paypal too? Excellent stuff. I'm doing it now...
oooh, very tempting this one. it fits in with marathon schedule and I like the idea of running in the shade in August. was it a big field in 2004? Paypal you say? fab. spot the e-bayers!
Must admit, having only done it once, I can't remember a great deal about it - hopefully someone with greater knowledge can answer.
From what I recall, no "nasty" hills at all - a couple of gentle climbs, including one near the end, but really nothing to worry about (nothing like the one at the start of Wycombe, or the ones in Marlow, if you're familiar with those races!)
Does anyone know how easy it is to get to this one by train from London? Looks like the line to Maidenhead passes quite close by, but I'm not entirely sure what station is closest/how far it is.

Good to see it back after a year's absence.
Not sure I'd like to be running a half in August! Bit hot for me.

I may well do it again in 2006.
Judging by the summer so far, it shouldn't be too hot! 8-}
Heat doesn't affect you as much as say the Wycombe Half as more is under the trees.
Did the Burnham 5k last night and that had a couple of undulations, and was fine
undulations in a half marathon, especially 2 laps worth can kill you mentally!
still..maybe!
ps. Sezz it's nearly all in the shade and it was a very nice medal last time...and I nice venue too.

I'm in this year with a score to settle.

I particular like the guy they have sometimes at the half way point calling out the split time.
Any advice appreciated!
