  • I did have some discomfort when i first used them, but after half a weeks running the burning sensation in the ball of my feet went & i then knocked off 3 min 45 sec
off of my saturday 13 mile run, which i credit to my new Nike trainers.
  • I bought 2 pairs of these a month back (+2 model), and have found them great. Ironically I had the pain in the ball of my foot prior to buying these from some New Balance cross trainers I use at the gym. The NIKE's are fantastic and I find them roomy as I have wide feet, although I've been resting the injury so haven't run in them for a couple of weeks.

If you find the sock liner too tight, have you tried lacing them without criss crossing in the middle part of your foot?

I think they're a great shoe and get better the longer I go in them....each to their own I guess!
  • I have this burning sensation on the bottom of my foot too, but only the left one..comes on after about 30 minutes and then becomes unbearable with numbness by about an hour..I had this both with the Vomero 1's and now with the Vomero 2's as well (although not as bad)..
I use these with orthotics (Orthoheelfrom Boots, the best!) and its the best shoe for protecting my knees I've ever run with..

will it really go away with time?? and why? seems like alot of people have this issue..Does Nike refer to it at all??
  • I have tried various lacing patterns to try and relieve the burning pain in ball of foot (funnily emough also only on left foot). Works with other shoes where I have had similar problem (Saucony Triumph) but no joy with Volmero. I don't intend to continue running in them to see if the issue resolves itself, 30 miles on them and they sits at the back of the cupboard!

Does seem odd that so many peeps get the same problem with them, anybody like to hazard a guess why?
  • TRy swapping the insoles - the Vomero 1 has an insole (not sure about the 2) that has softer areas under the heel and metatarsals - this can allow the metatarsal arch to collapse and this can compress the nerve as it passes between the bones
  • Just tried these with the original insoles in and with my orthotics over top of insoles and felt much better. Great even.

    Anyone understand that???
  • Will try swapping the insoles, watch this space!
  • swapped the insoles and their still sh@%e
  • As someone else was asking about Vomeros I though about bumping this thread up again.

DD - I had exactly the same problem, one foot burning up even leading to numbness. Come to think of it, the left one too - 2 things to consider: 1) the Nike+ cutout is on the left 2) my left foot is quite a bit shorter than my right. This never happened again after the shoes had done about 50 miles and they were extremely comfy.

I've got now 550 miles on that pair and they're still very comfy and I still use them while I'm running a new pair of shoes in. I reckon I'll officially retire them at 600, so pretty good going on the lifespan. Didn't get another pair as I'm not sure I want to keep running in shoes quite that pillowy plus didn't fancy going through those 50 first miles again (and I'm a cheapskate too).

  • Nike Vomero 2+, I ran in these today for the 1st time and boy are they light and the grip is just awesome, I've been running in Mizuno Wave creation8's which are very comfy and last long, BUT these Nike's are great and I look forward to getting some miles on them

I'm high mileage training due to marathon training so the comfort and lightness is important to me, the lighter the better BUT I need cushioned which the Nike's give me

  • I weigh 17.5 stoen so need a goo dcushining shoe, i am neutral.

I used to use Nimbus but dont liek the 9 and so was goign for pegasus until i heard aobu thtese. anyone got any other advice or comment on them?

  • Gone from vomeros to grid triumph 5.......top notch shoes
  • I have Triumph 5 to try tomorrow, got Span Nike too but i do kinda miss my older Vomeroo and may head back to them.
  • My old vomeros were excellent! Bought a pair of Adidas Supernova Cushion!!!!(I dont think so!) and they were rubbish! So its back to Vomeros again for me!

  • just done 18.5 miles in vomero, i weigh 17.5 stone an dthey were cool!!
  • JUST BOUGHT 2 MORE PAIRS, IN LATEST STYLE. THE NEW MODEL IS EVE MORE COMFY THAN MY OLD ONE FROM 2006.
  • I luuurve my vomeros - the first trainers I've ever had that are big enough for all my toes at the end of a long run.

  • As a relative newbie to running, my Vomeros have been a revelation for me.

I'd been told, during a walking boot fitting years ago, that I had flat feet and should get orthotics made up, which I duly did. A trip to Runners World in Chadwell Heath some time later resulted in my purchase of a pair of Nike Trail Pegasus shoes ... I ran in those, with orthotics in place for about a year. Interestingly enough, when I had the opportunity to have my gait analysed again, there didn't seem to be much difference, with or without the orthotics. Also, the wet foot test would suggest that I have a normal foot, rather than flat feet, even though I have quite a flat arch.

I'd been running in a pair of 'road' Pegasus for the last three months or so, when I came across the Vomeros. It was a bit of an impulse buy ... well, it was half price, but what a difference it has made. I use them with Sof Sole's heat mouldable Adapt insoles. I feel like I'm actually running ... rather than just plodding along.
  • i use to run four marathons a year but also many 10k runs and fun runs, but i use to train four times a week as i was the smallest at school ( 4 ft 8 inch and 7 stone when i LEFT ! ) it was a choice of rugby or cross country, well......... no choice really, it was run or be crushed, so i run.

I loved my running until a motorcycle accident put pay to that, i walk okay, but running blows the knee up the following day, we were training for the london marathon too at the time the accident happened, the person who hit me turned out to be my running partner !...................... thanks mate !

Anyway many years later and my heels started to play up, getting up in the morning was painfull, the first standing was agony, i went to a physio who manipulated the muscles and tendons over a 6 week session once a week, and he advised me to go to a foot specialist who has one of these machines where you run and you get a printout of your running and had a set of inserts made, and was advised to try a set of Nike Vomeros with the inserts that were made.........well....... its a different world....... no pain......... no agony first thing in the morning, the conbination of these shoes and the inserts have made my life so different and pain free....... if you want to contact me please do so coz i know heel pain can be a few different things, but what i had done and the Nike Vomeros changed my life.

I use them for work and get through two pairs a year, friends think i am either mad or loaded, but when you break it down to costing 46 pence a day, pain free........ its not even a bottle of water or a can of drink..... i know which i would choose !

Off to get another pair tomorrow

    Happy running

  • I bought the Vomero 3s last November - initially they felt very comfortable however once you start running properly the amount of cushioning becomes very apparent. They are REALLY soft - its like running on marshmallow and for me they are not stable enough.

I wear my running shoes whilst doing lunges & squats, along with other exercises, whilst either in the gym or out on runs etc - the movement that the extra cushioning allows when you plant your feet  is way too much for me & i hurt my knee at one point which i attribute to this.

Also, the grips on these are by far the worst on any pair of running shoes i have had. Again, whilst either out running or in the gym there have been numerous occasions where i've had to slow when cornering due to the lack of gip on these.

These are the first pair of running shoes i've ever replaced without getting a full life cycle out of them.

My previous shoes were the Saucony Progrid Triumph 5s - these were excellent however initally i could feel the midsection of the shoe underneath my foot as i ran. After a few weeks i got used to them and they became very comfortable. When they wore out i switched to the Vomero 3s.

About a month ago, i replaced the Vomeros with the updated Progrid Triumph 6s - and i'm disappointed i didn't buy these earlier. They are a very lighweight, instantly comfortable shoe with great grips and cushioning. The slight discomfort i initially had with the 5s didn't exist and i now consider the 6's as the best running / training shoe i've ever had.  I would recommend these to anyone looking for a cushioned shoe.

Obviously everybodys feet & requirements are slighty different but you should definitely give the Triumph 6s a chance.
