9.5m today, blowing a hoolie all day but not cold.
It does seem to be getting lighter in the mornings TR, should make the early runs more enjoyable.

Wardi - goid man. Sunrise hasnt changed much for us yet, but sunset has moved by about an hour already.

Felt a bit ropey before my run home, so decided i had  best do a slow 6m home, but felt a bit better so added some of the lumpier lane miles and finished with a slow 12m. Good time on feet.

I've added a few miles on to a below par run a few times TR, you've ended up with a decent MLR there.

BTW I managed to find a pair of Fuel Cell TC reduced from £180 to 129, with a bit of club discount got this down to £113.  Almost the same price as a normal shoe!

13.3m this morning.  Blowing a bit so used the Sustrans cycle route out & back again for a bit of shelter.  Nice temps of around 10 degrees though.

Good price that Wardi. Do you wear the same size in NB as other makes, i get a bit ot big toe banging from my 1080?

Quick turnaround for 10m this morning, 5m easy, 5m approx +10%. Been a good week of double digits so far.

Chichester 10k sunday, 25 mph winds, 40+ mph gusts and rain forecast. No surprises there.

TR.. I can fit into a NB size 11 wide 2E width but not much choice really.  I found that a standard width (D) size 11.5 is OK for me and there is a lot more choice in that size.  Similar sizing to Nikes when I used to wear them though I usually found Adidas a bit narrow for me.
Lol at the Sunday forecast, doesn't look much better here TBH.  We were obviously very lucky with the Brass Monkey.
2 x 4m today, breezy but circa 10 degrees again.

Wardi - Snap, 2*4m here too, 1 a XCmud fest with the dog, the other an easy run around the local lanes.  In shoe, currently have new pairs of Nike Pegs & Zoomfly yet to taste a road surface & 26m on a pair of Nike 4% and 70m on Vaporfly Next%.  Using a pair of NB for everyday use.
TR - More evidence to show you are a race day wind god, it loves you.  Good luck!

Just 3 days of 2*4m easy this week, and maybe a 10K solo TT this afternoon aiming for just under sub40 or thereabouts.

Wardi - agreed, i dont wear adidas.

OO - my most recent pegs have about 100m on them, i have an unused pair of pegs and flyknits in reserve. My 4% only have 10m on them (Chichester 10k 2 yrs ago), and my Next% have about 90m on them.

10m home tonight, been a good week of doubles. Sundays race organisers sent out a rallying call in the race info, saying that we are hardy runners and dont mind a bit of bad weather. It might scupper my plan of extra motor circuit laps as wu and wd if it gets too miserable though.

That has been a good week of miles for you so far TR.  There are a few outdoor markets & events cancelled up here this weekend due to the forecast.

OO.. that's a decent stock of fairly new shoes!  Got my Barca trip refunded this week so a chance to plan a new trip to a race somewhere.

An easy 5.2m today, I'm planning the Parkrun plus a few miles tomorrow though it's looking like a gusty one again.

Swapped out my long run for 6m easy, weather wasnt too bad for running today.

What's the plan tomorrow TR?  Run to feel?  It doesn't look too cold but you could do without the wet stuff and the strong winds. :o

I got lucky, 10.2m with add ons and managed to stay dry this morning inc. the Parkrun.  The latter was not quite as windy as last week though the wind direction meant we spent a longer time running into it, just over 1k I guess.  I became an elected wind break for a couple of girls in this section!  22.14 was 20 secs quicker than last week so progress of sorts.

Wardi - well done on helping the ladies. No plan, give it some welly and try to keep moving forwards, no chance of running target split times, no idea how fit i am either. Make it up as i go.

Wardi - The thought of a run in the sun is very appealing at the moment. Good 10m strike out and deserving of an award for chivalry.
TR - Be interested in how you go/ are going very blowy here, glad I didn't enter our localish 10k which is at the same time as your own. Either way you will get fitness gains and maybe a new tshirt/ medal.

Good progress with Fridays 10k TT,  felt the same kind of effort and came in 39 dead, a 8 sec per m improvement on the same run 10 days previous. So will target 38 something for next weeks.  20m this afternoon after my sons 🏉 and my team on TV for the  ⚽️ just in time for the rain - yay.

Bit of a busy week, with in-person hearings in Exeter Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and in Bristol on Friday: quite like old times!  I took the view that cycling to and from the station/chambers each day was enough exercise on those days.  I was a bit late leaving yesterday (we had a family lunch with Mr. J's family for Chinese New Year to get to), so only squeezed in 3 miles, and a wind-swept 9 miles this morning.

Hope the weather was kind for TR today.

Nice rate of improvement, OO: sub 38 before you know it!

    Nice parkrun progress, too, Wardi.

    2m, 10k, 5m

Had time for 5 or 6m before hand, but decided to wait in the car whilst the water cannon rain hosed it down. The rain stopped shortly into the 2m. Only 5m afterwards as my car was one of a few left in the parking field and i didnt want to miss the help from the marshalls with their landrovers dragging cars out the mud. 10k was as expected (OO beat me), fastest mile was 5.50, slowest was 7.08. Gadget was displaying 8mm pace at times. There were folks stopping to walk in a 10k as it was so windy round the track. Best thing about is its done.

That sounds like a tough day out TR, brownie points aplenty for getting it done.  There was a decent quality 10k up here today (Dewsbury).  My clubmates who ran it said it was mainly side winds on a roughly S-N out and back course, and thankfully no rain.  We have had hailstones this afternoon!

OO.. nice 20m in the bag and a cracking time trial.

Jools.. sounds like you did well to fit those runs in.

My last 3 Parkruns have either been windswept or over distance so I will bide my time for a calm day to get my time down further. ;)
9.5m this morning, gusty but the rain stayed away.  61m for the week.
Curry plus a couple of Kingfishers tonight.

TR - Great to see a 5 something mile, the 7.08 shows how windy it must have been. Good to have a hard effort in the bag. Sounds pretty grim though.
Jools - plenty of cardio variety there
Wardi - super weekly mileage total. Snap, same here. Enjoy the curry & beers.

First proper 20m bagged, ran it P&D ish, so 8mm for first 12m and c7.20 mm for the last 8. Got wet, very windy, wet running shirt, forgot nipple plasters and got nipple chaff (ouch indeed). Its not all glamour this lark is it?  Debuted the Pegasus, really comfy and felt great, so my long run and everyday shoe from now on. With 4m earlier  24m for the day.

Good man wardi, i might join you for a few IPAs.

OO - thats the way to do the long run. I reckon doing those set me up well for vlm, by the end i was doing 7 to 9m at 8mm with another 13 at 7.20. I think that during training when you are untapered its a much more relevant effort......i like Pegs, they are a good workhorse.......i need the car park to dry out, im back there next week for a 1/2, hopefully at a quicker pace than today, although i might do it as an mp run with wu and wd. We'll see what the weather gods turn up.......

Similar here TR, 5.4 recovery miles on slightly tired legs.  It also helped burn off last night's tasty Jalfrezi from the local takeaway. :)

5 miles for me yesterday, and 5 today.  I was a bit lethargic and heavy legged today as I didn't get a lunch break yesterday, and could really feel the lack of food - I did my best to make up for it with a slightly larger dinner (and risotto, so plenty of carbs!) but clearly not quite well enough...

I was supposed to do 8 @ HMP , 5mins jog, 3 faster than HMP on Sunday. Needless to say that didn't happen. I ran to HR instead. The 8 came out at MP and slower, the 3 came out at 10k pace and slower, but actually the pace was just all over the shop! Is it any better today? I have mile reps to do....

Pretty breezy here this morning, Speedy.  Although it's only a mild hindrance to a non-pace caring jogger!
  • Options
    TRTR ✭✭✭
CC - 8 hmp or 3 faster than hmp are both pretty impossible in training stand alone, let alone both with a 5min jog in between. Youd struggle to do them on an ideal day let alone a windy day.

CC2.. bliddy impossible to do quality reps etc in the wind but at least you got some miles in.

4.2m on the treadie waiting for security alarm repair man this morning.  7m with the club tonight in persistent light drizzle, very mild though.

Wardi - nice, decent running weather for the rest of the week......then the rain and 40mph winds come back for Sundays 1/2 back at Goodwood ( i will sack it off this week as it will be another personal worse with no chance of running an even pace/effort).

    13m home tonight.

Morning all. Hectic few weeks here with different bits and bobs so haven't had a chance to pop in. Good to see coro popping in, and even better to read that you're back doing a bit.
OO - sounds like you've come off the bench at speed with tasty long runs and trebles. Be careful.
TR - I'm more than familiar with the WTFP moments. With so much going on I still have it at the back of my mind if I want to go through the struggle to get back to where I was, but I feel better when I run and have some structure so that has become my answer to WTFP. If I can eventually regain proper fitness then all the better. Good to see you back at it since with some solid training and toughing it out in a windy 10k.
joe - how did you get on with the knee specialist?
Wardi - pain with the flights! At least you got the refund though.
sj - how did the mri go?
Not much to report here - aside from being busy, I took a couple of days off a while back due to needing a chiropractic adjustment. Overall though I have been, for me, very consistent since starting back with weeks of 61, 61, 55, 32 (chiro week), & 55. Something in the 60s would be good this week but I'll see how things go.
Some big volume in last week's track session - 6km, 3.2km, 1.6km all at HM effort - to try build some strength again felt good but there's a lot of timber and a lot of fitness to regain before paces look ok again. Slowly slowly, etc.

Well done TT, keep plugging away. WTFP is rare for me, just frustration at not being able to do what id like to.

    10m back in today, 5 easy, 5 approx mp+10%.

TR.. wretched luck with the weekend forecast again.  Sunday doesn't look to bad up here though Saturday is damp with 16-20mph winds.
Good work with 23m in 2 days.

TT.. some consistent weeks of decent miles there.  Hope the chiropractic treatment sorted you out.

Jools.. asking for Mrs Wardi.. what's the best method/stuff for cleaning violin strings?

12.4m earlier.  A bit breezy but the sun was out for most of it so a pleasant run.

Good one on the mlr wardi, ive done a few 12s and 13s so far, but a few 15s would be a good idea in the next 5 or 6 weeks. Ive written sunday off to sods law, I'll do my long run as usual saturday an get back on the turbo sunday. 8 weeks to go, so a decent 6 wks is the aim.

TR - Sunday does look dreadful again.  Seems a good call to DNS the half. The buggeration factor of April marathons.
TT - Cheers, the resumption of my running for the April marathon has been unconventional, hopefully a more normal pattern from here. Your building up nicely, with good mileage and done quality sessions great to see.
Wardi - Nice MLR and seeing the sun was a bonus.

9m yday and 4&8m today av. 8.30 mm. Still feeling a bit tired from Sundays run. The April marathons getting closer. Happy still to think in terms of weeks  when you start thinking in terms of days, feels like they're practically knocking on the door. Joe Blogs and CD running Seville soon.
