Yeah V-rap but you wouldn't swop him for a 'handy andy' though would you! My Mrs has a step dad who would rather pay someone to even gloss a door than do it himself...MAD!...but then again I enjoy getting dirty and sweaty doing 'construction'..very relaxing and theraputic.
I have absolutely no energy. I'm supposed to go to the gym this afternoon but all I want to do is go to sleep. I've had breakfast and lots to drink. Any ideas, should I rest or try and work tho it?
JJ - just ask yourself, am i honestly too tired to train? if the answer's yes, give yourself a break, you obviously need it. If you can't look yourself in the eye and say yes, then go along and just say 'i'll just train for 15 mins' and i guarantee you'll end up doing more!
If not, promise yourself that if you go to the gym you needn't do any more than 20 minutes at a comfortable pace on your favourite piece of cardio equipment. If you don't feel better after that, go home and rest - you've tried. If that perks you up, then do watever else you were planning.
I wil go to the gym. If I cancel now they'll charge me for the creshe place. I can always veg in the steam room if I get fed up.
BTW Vrap, I've been passing on your comments about spa pools to the older ladies who seem to spend thier lives in there. They were not amused and seemed a bit more reluctant to go in :-)
Thanks JJ, and i hope the nap helps. i read somewhere that protein wakes you up, carbs send you to sleep, well bit more complicated than that! so maybe grab yourself something proteiny, egg, meat, cheese???
Perhaps you have overtrained a little of late JJ? Now you are hitting that downwards slope because at times we realise we cannot maintain that peak of effort. If you have a lazy week it will do your level of performance in the next race no harm, perhaps you need some R & R...have a nice day out instead, go to the sauna or something. Do not punish yourself if you do not make the gym...you don't need the stress.
Spa pools...eeurgh! I go to a gym that has a kiddies' pool instead.
Must do something about going out soon, although I'm still mopping up the nursing stuff at the moment. I think I'll enjoy a run - and will feel that my marathon preparations are well under way if I have some miles in before tonight.
BBB Had the best part of 2 weeks off but I think I was over doing it before then. there are so many things I want to do but I have 2 children, a workaholic husband and my own business. I can't do everything :-)
Kick my butt, please, someone. I want to run, it's nice out, but I'm pithering around delaying getting changed (currently typing with one hand and wielding toothbrush in the other) for some subconscious reason.
I think it must be in the air. All I've read on the forum recently is people being de motivated and having difficult runs. Get out there Vrap and I'll go and do some weights in the gym.
I'm changed now (got a fleece on in case I end up walking - it's still chilly - but might be brave and leave my gloves behind). I've told the receptionists that I'm off, so off I had jolly well better be.
When I next post, I will be having lunch - chicken, spiced couscous and a tin of carrots. Then a mango. And chocolate.
Hi everyone and well done to all who've been out there doing stuff already.Go on v-rap - you know you'll feel better really.
You're right JJ, evryone yesterday was a bit flat too. I went to the gym at 8.00am today which normally sets me up for the day, but I found it really hard going - achilles a bit twingey after sundays run. Loads to do at work AND our Christmas party(yes - I know it's february) to attend tonight.....which I could really do without.
Afternoon, just woke up after nights last night and now enjoying the first of my four rest-days. I really shouldn't be on the forum at the moment, due to a pressing need to begin a 3000 word application for promotion, but you how it is.
O GOD WHAT HAVE I DONE? BEEN GOOD ALL DAY THEN IN WAS A DC'S BIRTHDAY AND HE BROUGHT IN CAKES AND NOW I'VE SCOFFED A WHOLE STICKY JAMMY CORNFLAKY CAKEY!
Got the week off before starting new job next week. Transported wife to Heathrow this morning, she's already safely arrived in Helsinki. We're meeting up in Amsterdam on Wednesday.
£20 HRM works just fine, if anyone else is interested check out:
I'll have you know that I'm decended from a very long line of East Anglian scum. We can trace it back for centuries, assuming that any of the births on the carefully prepared family tree are in fact legitimate, which I doubt.

If there is, rest.

You are all doing so well on the determination and achievement front.
I had sardines on brown toast (no spread) for lunch and a yogurt.
Am still hungry.
Not being able to exercise, has not diminished my appetite at all.
don't worry lamb cakes don't count if they're a gift.
