Woodhall Spa Half Marathon

Anybody planning on doing this?

Nice course, but not flat! Have run the route a few times, although have never done the race.

  • BTW - Fat Bald Bloke please do not enter this race. It should be nice weather in June, and I don't need you jinxing it OK?
  • Might make a good 1st half if I'm ever fit enough ;-)
  • Hi M

    You know it makes sense!
  • BTW

Forgot to ask before. Why the tiger?
  • Now you see thats a very long story.
  • Suitably intrigued.

(Gets comfy cushion and drink, and waits for the answer)
  • Very nice place, NOT very flat course!
  • Tell me about it. Did the route again yesterday.
  • This is one of those halves that you do for the scenery not the time.
  • Yeah, I have to agree with you on that one.
  • Hmmmmmm
Having second thoughts now - need a nice flat course to give me every possible chance of making it to the finish (not too concerned about time just yet - it'll be a PB anyway!)

  • I thought you were off to bed M?
  • Last year this was run on Jubilee weekend and was scorching hot so even with my habit of finding events in the rain it should be a good run.

M don't let them put you off it may not be flat but it is not really hilly. It is a good sociable run good atmosphere and I would recomend it plus the tee shirt is one of the best. I still wear mine from last year.

FS good luck for Oakley have finally entered Ashby so should be well tierd by the time we next train (just getting the excuse in early)
  • where is the spell check on this
  • Hi FBB. Don't know if I'm going to be ready for this. Am definitley planning a half in June but may benefit from a few extra weeks and doing Borehamwood.

    Good luck at Ashby
  • Good luck at Asby FBB. Have just answered your email.

Hi M. Just sent you one too.
  • I've been pondering whether I should enter this as my first half. I'm not sure if it's abit too ambitious as I'm not up to that sort of mileage yet but it would give me something to aim for.
  • KS There is never a good run to do as your first half. It always seems ambitious and when you get there everyone looks like they are fitter than you. But enter, run your own race. Let the forum know your number we can look out for you and encourage you on the day. You will be suprised how many of the fit looking folk come in behind you. Even I beat some of them sometimes.
  • Yeah, but your one of them now FBB!

KS you should come along. You've got ages till June. I'm sure you will enjoy it.
  • You're right. It's time to stop prevaricating (I bet that's not the right spelling) and enter. If it's scenic then I'll love it.

I did 6.6 miles tonight and it certainly wasn't hard so I think I can up my mileage abit now.
  • well done KS, sounds like it's going well.
  • See you there KS
  • i think i'll do this one too, i'm in high spirits after peterborough

I have just picked up on this one. I would like to know the description of FLAT used by the promoters.
  • So. looks like most of the Lincoln 10K lot are doing this as well. Who's entered?
  • I've just entered this on-line (if only my running was as quick!) so there's no going back now.

Plenty of time to improve my speed before then!
  • this will be my second half,if i do 1.50mins will i be right there at the back, with there being such asmall number in the race.
  • I've done the Woodhall Spa 1/2M a couple of times. I've always thought it was flat, and done a good time there - perhaps it depends on where you come from. compared to here it is very flat.
I'm thinking of doing it this year, but may opt for the Brandon 1/2M the weekend before.
  • DS. I'll look for you at mile 2 and see if you still think it's flat!

Actually, it isn't too bad, and a pb course I would have thought, but it really isn't flat!
  • New to the area and race organisors usually use the term Pleasantly undulating for hilly !!
Did you all enjoy the Lincoln 10 k ?
Have just entered Woodhall Half on line so am going to find out the truth !!
Remember us older ones are Masters now not Veterans any more!!
See you there on the day.
