Now this will blow your mind if you don't already know what I am about to tell you.
Ed Whitlock, M75, has just produced the most amazingly stunning performances on Track.
Over 7 days and in temperatures rising to 36 degrees, he achieved the following World Records:-
5000m--19.07
10000--39.25
These were both achieved on the same weekend, then 3 days later he ran 3000m in 11.10.
Then another 3 days later he ran a mile world record in 5.41.
He said afterwards that his knees were a little sore from all tha strange track running!
He will be running the Ontario Aterfront Marathon on 24th Sept.
There is a photo in my Running Fitness magazine this month of him. He looks muscular, but there is no fat on him at all, both feet well off the gound and shows quite a high front knee lift.
Obviously 3 hours a day training is the way to go:-((
He is wearing a Ranelagh Club running vest.
These are times that I would kill for.

Fantastic stuff.
Thanks for posting that ceal.
I'm dreaming of getting under 40 for 10k before I'm 45 (3 years to go, and 5 minutes to lose)
My training partner was buying a new pair of trainers the other day and met an 85 year old bloke who is preparing to do his 20h or so GNR - he started running at 65 when his wife died. Over the next twelve months he is planning to do all of the 'Great' runs. Apparently he was philosophical about having to slow down due to his replacement knees !
On an equally impressive level, check out the exploits of Mike Hagar. He's a M55 and has run a sub 71min HM this year, and I think a sub 33min 10k
lies down
respect
yes Mike H times are remarkable too.
Escargot
I think that is an interesting question, does anybody know the answer?
Inspirational people.
Superb stuff.
thats before i am on the floor about his times
good on the lad
even more impresive is the late age he started training
gives us all hope
you have a good ways to go yet then.
Hi hips,
You make a good point there.
I am
Ill never do it
, but he is amazing
none of us know whats round the coriner with our health
and , maybe he has bee lucky
but
all those years of running
and joints fine
brilliant
When I then told them his times their laughter turned to exclaimations like 'Whoooa!' or 'Respect' or 'You're kidding'
Knowing how difficult it is to impress teenagers, especially if you're old (i.e. over 25) then I reckon the guy is pretty amazing.
this gladdens my soul
I must say it gave me hope too Hipps.
There was a similar reaction when I told them about Fauja Singh too.
XB
I have to say
i am delighted that they had that reaction
