Not working at mo Bear (but I've 2 interviews lined up) How about Wednesday????? Will have to confirm nearer time but at mo that's best for me cos I run Tues and Thurs and don't run so good when I been cycling, but it's not out of the question!!!
Just to make sure we're not missing any sports here...
- Keep checking this thread for group cycle training rides. - If anyone wants some run training then there are a whole bunch of us who run BPTT most Saturday mornings - see here - and there are a smaller bunch of us who occasionally do Sunday laps of Richmond Park - this thread - this happens more regularly in the pre FLM months! - For swimming... Bear and Pink are thinking about some late season OW training - keep watching this space?
Flipper - if you wanna come over to RP then around now is a good time to do it - Stumpy, Puff, Max, Kinsey, etc all seem to be in run-bike-run duathlon fever.
ditchling is 144mts climb in 1.4kms box hill/zig zag from the bottom to the car park is 124mts in 2.4kms so on average ditchling is almost twice as steep. Box hill is an excellent training hill, you can work up it steadily or do threshold stuff on it or big gear strength training.
well you did conquer Ditchling at the end of L2B Pink.
Box Hill never actually seems to get that steep - just goes on forever. HR didn't get up nearly as high as on How Lane (first nasty hill in L2B) although that's much shorter
yeah - just been looking at Leith! Got to include that in a ride sometime )
the last bit of Box Hill seems pretty flat tbh, so perhaps most of the climb is in the first 1.4km, so it might not be that different from Ditchling. It's my first time trying it on a bike today, so I'll bow to more experienced riders
the steepest I could find on Google Earth turns out to be a bridle path, but there's one road that looks like it's got a long meaty climb in it. Might be a good next stage for our rides )
Comments
sign at the top said it was 209m high, but don't know what the bottom is (presumably the top is 209m above sea level)
Great to have company though - cheers Holly )
Next week Greenie - name your day!
I think I did Bitchling in about 12 something - shorter but same height I think
Maybe I'd be quicker on a 'real' bike

Just been looking at Google Earth - BH looks like a climb of 453 feet compared to Ditchling at 490 feet - so quite similar really

You're ok, Greenie, BH is flat as a pancake...
Nearly as flat as them moors where I come from originally. Now they are proper 'ills :0)
Richmond Park sounds good - I think it's quite easy to cycle to so I don't have any excuses!
c'mon Flips - come and join the crazy people!!

Let me know what time. Any time after 2pm is great
Is there a road up Leith Hill? I thought it was MTB territory?
