clairster - well, I like to think I'm in a class of my own ;o)
but it's not just me, all the unaffiliated runners are down as "Unaffilated"

Clarej & Trisha - may have to use you as pacemakers in my quest for sub-2hrs if that's OK :o)
I guess we'll all know better nearer the time as to how "on schedule" we're likely to be...

    jpenno - welcome

Higs - you know you want to...
  • Options
That's putting the pressure on making me a pacemaker.
As long as you don't hold me responsible if it's over 2hrs.
My best time was 1hr 48 at Wilmslow and my worst was 2hr 5mins also at Wilmslow so I'll leave it up to you.
Last time I did 4 villages it was 1hr55 but that was a few years ago it's been a while since my last 1/2

Have sent off entry a few days ago so will be there after the ride, we will be the ones getting there late again after misjudging the start time.
  • Options
Latest entry list is up. They're up to nearly 1500 entrants now (I think the limit is 2000).

Still no progress on the spelling "Unaffilated"!
  • Options
Perhaps a new word should be introduced Daz such as unattached, clubless or the phrase the BBC often use during FLM coverage for anyone who isn't an elite athlete...fun runner !
  • Options
Almost as offensive a 'fun runner' is the term 'jog' or 'jogger' which is also used.
  • Options
Hmmm yes they do. Its a bit galling for a runner when you've been entering races for a few years and achieved respectable times and then someone asks you 'Have you been out jogging today ?!'
  • Options
    AndyF - how about "Independent"?

I quite like the sound of that...
  • Options
    I've been called worse...
  • Options
Only joking Andy, I'm in a club - but it does little to improve my performance. It tends to be every man for himself with the better runners fussed over - the lardies at the back (including myself) are of little importance or value. Most runners who push themselves do it by following schedules etc and therefore anything achieved is under their own steam rather than the guidance of a club.

Good luck to anyone who is doing their own thing.

Oh dear. Training was going so well until I got ill at the weekend. Even walking round shopping centre was knackering today. Bang goes my sub 2 hour goal yet again. I will try a little joggette tomorrow.

No offence taken Basil ! I thought of one more...Free Agent. Stole that one from the world of footee.

Sezz, it may be as well you got ill over the weekend rather than attempting to run like me at around 5pm on Saturday. It was a bit windy when I set off but within 5 minutes heavy rain was lashing down and I'm sure Noah's Ark passed me at one point. Abandoned ship after 3 miles and arrived home cold, windswept and soaked.

Hope your jogette is more succesful tomorrow.

Joggette was indeed more successful thanks Andy. Very mild out there although a bit windy and I didn't feel as tired as I thought I might. Just a gentle 3.5 miles but happy with that.
  • Options
Sounds good to me Sezz, you must be on the road the recovery.

I got what what I deserved last Saturday because I lay in bed in the morning whilst the sun shone through the window then later attempted my run when the weather conditions had become more 'challenging'.

I didn't fill the entry form in yesterday.

I'm not going to post it today.

    No Sir. Not me.

    Good for you Higsy.

I knew you couldn't do it.

I went out in the rain today for 6 miles. It was only that light fluffy rain that wouldn't soak a flea............until I got to 3 miles when the heavens opened. I got a tad wet. Good fun though :-)
  • Options
    Sezz - Sod's Law isn't it:

"On a run of x miles, it will only ever start to rain heavily at the x/2 point."

6 miles is about the limit for running in the rain though, isn't it? After that it stops being quite so much fun, and just becomes WET.

I'm having tomorrow off work to go for a 10-miler (hopefully dry!), because I have some shorter hill-work planned for Sunday, on account of having a fell-race lined up for 26th Nov...

(note to self - train for ONE race at a time...)
