....oh dear...all this talk of 'cat litter' and 'numbingly boring' is damping the little bit of enthusiasm I had managed to muster, after FLM rejection!! I dont think I'd fancy a marathon mid May though, as it could get out too hot.
Just how much of the course is the numbingly boring cat litter bit? I have four months to work on the psychological preparation!! (Either that, or buy my way into FLM!)
And Hippo, what are you ON, (that made you become silent AND white??!) :-)
I had this mad rush of blood to the head and have entered the half marathon in Stratford despite having the London Marathon the week before... It'll be fine I'm sure, I wanted to do this event so much though. Not quite mad enough to enter the marathon though, because I'm doing Edinburgh three weeks after this event.......
Hippo - yes it seems so, and in our local park one bit me on the a**e when I turned my back on it to feed the ducks. Actually I'm not too bothered by geese but am a bit spooked by swans.
Glad to hear your silent whiteness is of a festive variety and not a poorly one, Hippo!!
Geese, reminds me of a 'basic' childhood camping holiday, where the loos were chemical ones in tents with non-working zips. I'd braved the roaming geese to get to the loo, and had just perched my backside on the wobbly approximation to a toilet, when a goose poked its head through the flapping canvas, beak open, pecking wildly...aarrgghh!!!
Well I was also rejected from the FLM and seeing as I've never done a marathon before I've plumped for this one instead. Like the sounds of a flatish course but ain't to keen about going around twice.............d'oh
Best I get me garmin out now and get some miles in before the alcohol fest known as christmas kicks me in the rear....
Dave I think you could be right there ;-) Still up for it being my first marathon. Am also running in the Bath half this March and this is also over 2 laps so maybe good practice for Shakespeare or a case of de ja vous
I've got to get my bum into gear and start training properly.
At the moment my job is being made redundant (finishes on 31 Jan) and I'm living with my parents as my partner has a new job in Havant. We have a flat down that way and I just need to see if I can find a job down there before my job ends. If not I'll be temping.
So with that little lot I have to fit my runs round it.
Does anyone know what the t-shirts are like and roughly how much they are?

i didnt mind the greenway(which i presume is what you mean by the cat litter bit)
my issue(as usual)was with the cut off
we had some great public support, people playing disco music and so on
I am Silent and White for Christmas Runner bean
(gotta be better than running round central london anyway.. yeeuck)
Second half sounds like it could be a bit mentally gruelling - can't be as bad as the boating lake section of Robin Hood can it????
soph- no worries, nice little leg stretcher.
that nasty cat litter has a habit of getting into your shoes too!
did anyone tell you about the geese?
OK, now I'm worried. Mind you, if I'm 20 odd miles into a marathon and struggling, a gander of angry geese might be just the motivation required!
Bringing back memories of the 1999 Pamplona Bull Run now....
didnt one go for you at trago mills?

;-)
Shades-dont start me on swans------

According to the web site the limit is 3300. Last year there were 701 marathon finishers and 1638 half finishers according to the results thats 2339
I suppose that 3330 is a combination of the 2 races. I havent entered yet but will do so soon. Hopefully we can get a good training thread going here
