Wednesday session 19 Feb

As usual in the days leading up to a few days off, time is starting to catch up with me with the result that my days generally extend to 12 or more hours working - leaving minimal time for exercise.

Arrived home at 9:00 last night so instead of scheduled run opted for sharp 5k on the treadmill. This is actually one of my favorite sessions starting at 12 kph and then adding 0.5 kmh every three minutes, and therefore hitting 15.5 kmh just before the 5 k mark. The session requires real concentration in the latter stages to avoid flying off the back of the treadmill!

Today: Cross training, whatever I can squeeze in.
Why: Heavy work load

    Morning all. Temeperature currently 0 here - lowest it's been for about two weeks.

    What: Long swim in the pool
    Why: Sore throat last night, felt lousy on run yesterday. Feel fine today but s'pose I should take it easy .... And have too much work to do.
    Last hard: Yesterday - easy six became a hardish 7
    Last (proper) rest - ages ago.

    Where is everyone?
    What : 60-70 mins easy
    Why : midweek run

    Meant to say at my gym they have changed all the treadmills-supposedly new all singing & dancing versions.
    Only in kmph and a maximum of 16kmph.
    Now I know thats reasonably fast but its only my target 5k pace and certainly slower than the 400m reps I like to do (around 84secs/3:30kms)..........

    Gotta dash loads to do and won't get the chance with halfterm next week.......

    Good morning! Another chilly one.

    What: Three miles of treadmill intervals, an hour of BodyPump and as many lengths of the pool as I can do before chucking-out time.
    Why: It's Wednesday.
    Last rest day: Monday.
    Last hard day: Sunday. And a very nice 7-miler yesterday - it took me a couple of miles to get comfortably warm, but after that it was a lovely could-do-this-forever sort of run.

    Morning all just came back from an interupted run. I had to wait 5 minutes at about the half way point while the Lowry Milenium Bridge was lowered. Doesn't happen often but a pain when it does as I was in a nice rythm Anyway...

    What : AM 5.5 Mile run at a steady pace
    What : PM 3 x 10 minutes max on the Concept 2
    Why : Coach says so for the rowingand I've done the run to increase my weekly milage and training in general
    Last Hard : Yesterday but will be tonight
    Last Rest : Friday

    What: Hill session tonight,trying to get a bit of practice on the hills before the Tunbridge Wells Half this weekend.
    Why: Strengthing work on the legs and practice for the weekend.

    Why: helps me run better

    then all i've got left for the week is a short 4 mile run tomorrow followed by the 15 mile training run on Sunday. Expecting it to be very cold.

    Can't believe the weather, best part of a week cold and sunny, and off today, yippee.

    Bloomin 'eck Chatterbox, did I read your session from yesterday correctly??

    What: 9 miles incl 7 @ 1/2m pace.
    Why: haven't done a tempo run for a couple of weeks, everything really clicked today, must be the sunshine.
    Last hard: Sunday's long run.
    Last rest: Mon

    Taking various kids on a hill walk now, followed by afternoon tea in Grasmere, it's a hard life sometimes.

    looked out of the window this morning, no frost - it can't be that cold, I thought naively. think I got that wrong somehow!!!!!

    What 8 miles @ marathon pace (6:40 min/miles), on treadmill to Queen Live Killers- am still on a high from weekend.
    Could only sing along during the warm-up though.

    Usually do my tempo runs on a treadmill so I can control the pace but as distance increases its getting tougher. Might have to change to outdoor running!

    I hate this wind! It's so icy and cold and it's affecting the pace of my running-just not on!

    What:12 miles marathon pace. Managed to stay inside 3.30 marathon pace, but the wind was once again too strong to enjoy running and it's knackering battling against it all the time.

    Busy day for me,must get an early one tonight.

    What: am: Full body weights workout, light weights but high reps. Then in the pool 30 lenghs in 21.28 ( avg 160-174 max HR )thats bloody good going for me,taking off 2 minutes from last week.

    Then shopping all day first in Bromley then straight into London to buy my new Kayanos.

    pm: 2.5km x 2 Run, just testing out the shoes.

    Why: Wednesday is now gym day, with a discipline of swim-bike-run

    Last Hard: Swimming was very hard today.

    Last Rest: Monday

    Big session tomorrow, time for some rest.
