TO answer the question of why I'm not making it 4 Dublin's in a row, I'm doing florida ironman the following week in 2007. If the marathon was the week after I may just be tempted but not the other way around.... I should still be in Ireland though for the extracurricular activities.
will have a serious think about it, have to get Paris out of the way first, Amsterdam ? or Dublin again ?? Not sure probably Amsterdam not because I didnt enjoy Dublin I really did, just fancy doing one somewhere else .
hey all, my new idea is to do Chicago!! Went for a wee little run this morning and much to my annoyance my left knee the one which i have never had a problem with starting hurting, unlike the pain in my other knee, it is still really sore when walking, grrrr!! i feel very broken down!
Hello everyone. I thought it would be sociable to join the 2007 thread over 300 days before the race having joined this years around 3 days after.
Always tempted by new races (Cork & Budapest look promising for next year) but I'm sure I'll be back in Dublin for the 3rd year in a row because 1) Its only a short hop over from Manchester 2) its a great race 3) there seem to be plenty of people on for a beer afterwards !
New bike shoes (because some scumbag stole his good ones in Lough Neagh) New bike (Lord help me!!) Spinervals DVD (google it!) Garmin New wet suit (that new one that looks like Batman's!!) World peace!
How much do you want to spend i think is the question Smiley.
A pair of Planet X wheels A new Cycling jacket Posh rechargeable lights for the bike Garmin New HRM Mapping software so the old bugger can see where he has been Techy bits for the bike, Power meter for the crank etc Race entry for something special
Plum, depends on if my debtors pay up :-) Garmin is on the possible list. Powermeter might be a good idea too. Problem with race entries for him is trying to get a hold of his calendar to see if he is free. The crown jewels are less well guarded than the calendar.
I'll organise a new tube for you. Do you want the rubber or boob variety?
I'm getting HH a race entry - not a surprise, obviously - but it's for the GUCR, so is kind of a rod for my own back really, as I'll be support again - another 48 hours of sleeplessness and anxiety awaits!
Hello - went to the end of the other site and wondered why it was asleep. Re-wound and found you all partying here.
LR and Gillyhug - I think it's a case of join the knees club. I thought mine were ok till I tried to run on them. I'm glad it's not just me (not much comfort to you though). Am going to the gym tonight to get an alternative work out but I know they are soooo boring after running outside. Also re possibility of buying new shoes - lovely thought (except I hate shopping full stop) except a) bad time of year to be buying anything other than gruel b) I haven't done enough miles in them to warrant it - only bought them about August.
Result of current state is I'm not committing to running anything.
gillyhug - why Chicago - what happened to NY? Since Chicago's earlier, you could always do it and THEN Dublin!
GFB - AND you've got 3 teenagers to buy for. Nightmare Christmas.
NRG...that still must be in the region of 300 to 400 miles though going by your schedule...try getting the same shoes online, then you'll not have to brave the shops )
Re:Christmas and teenagers, I have told them that we're not going mad this year (I have plans for ipod nano x2 and a digital camera for their "big" present) I have spent too many Christmases buying tons of stuff that really doesn't get a look in because they got too much! (my fault - some sort of disorder I think!!)
I thought the 2006 thread had suffered some sort of power cut but on reflection it's soooo last year (or not quite as the case may be).
GFB - I've just bought a new camera. Bought a Samsung NV10, very cool in black and as the name suggests, 10.1 megapixels and video streaming up to 50 mins gives great results event with a complete bozo like me behind the lens. I thought it was really good value at £220 but needed extra memory due to the high quality photos etc.
Check it out at www.pixmania.co.uk (next day delivery too but maybe not to NI)
Got one booked for next Monday but have no idea what to expect although the words "tested to exhaustion" feature in some blurb I have read so I'd imagine that's got to hurt.
And it's indoors on a treadmill. Will email them to make sure they've got a mop handy.
