  • I'll be there Tiger.

Love this race - but then I'm biased :o))))
  • Me too.See you all there:-)
  • can any body tell me what this race is like????
  • Mud, mud, glorious mud - if we're lucky and heavy showers for a few days prior to race!
Not too hilly, over Epsom race course/downs, great fun!
  • Definatly great fun!
You also get to run down Ebbisham Lane, rather than the long slog up it:-)

Love the thundering of feet across the Downs to the finish.
  • And when the wind and rain are battering against you that last few hundred yards feels like an eternity!
  • The uphill finish doesn't help either ;o)
  • nothing like GRIM then? just completed that and felt good after. im going to put in for epsom stops me from been a fat lad over crimbo
  • Thanks for the tip Greenie. This is my free weekend in January so might well be there
  • But, everyone's failed to mention the bloomin' chilly frosty start last year, with it then getting really sunny & warm for the finish! ITs the sort of race that on paper I should hate, but I LOVE it! See you then!
  • Few questions -

    1) Is it a tough course or not too bad?

    2) How far is Epsom Downs station away from the start/finish... i.e. is it walkable?
  • Finally got around to entering. Hope weather gets drier and frostier in the next couple of weeks.

    Scratch -
    1) depends on the weather, if wet pretty tough, if dry/cold(frosty) not too bad.
    2) No trains to Epsom Downs on Sundays so try Tatteham Corner which is about half mile from start.
  • Is it cycleable from Sutton?
  • Easy five mile ride from Sutton scratch
  • It's not only mud, there's chalk and sand as well - your shoes will be nicely multi-coloured at the end :-)

Looking forward to this one now, it may be tough but it's not as long as Tadworth 10 last weekend so I'm grateful for small mercies!

I'm handing in entries tonight at training, just waiting to see if I can persuade another youth that he really, really would love to do this instead of spending the morning attached to a playstation, hehehe ;-)
  • Would you say this course is tougher/easier than the 'taddy ten?'
  • If the rain continues, it'll be tougher simply because the course is off road, and you can be more than ankle deep in mud and puddles - lovely! It's good fun if you're prepared just to splosh thru. At least it's shorter than Tadworth!
  • this sounds great, but is it ok for a first time 10k?
  • If you've done a bit of training on hills and don't mind the mud and puddles, it's fine, just take it easy. There's some areas where you are going single file and it gets congested, so you'll probably end up walking a bit anyway.!
  • Handed my entry in at lunchtime, first time in this race for me. Not a great fan of the mud, but it's just about the only race I can warm up running to the start and jog home afterwards.

And before anyone says 'Epsom 10', it always seems to clash with something else.
  • First time in this race too, normally run a 10k in about 50-55mins. Is that too slow for this, don't want to finish last!
  • Jimbo71 you'll by no means be last.
  • Any suggestions for the appropriate choice of trainers? Standard road trainers (Saucony) or Trail (Mudrocs)?????

  • football boots :D
  • That muddy, huh? It's the Mudrocs then! I was hoping it would be muddy but wasn't sure when I read the race information which referred to 'all-weather tracks'...sounded like gravel to me.
  • It's a mixture of different types of path, grass and probably some mud. I'll wear normal running shoes. But then, that's all I've got! I wouldn't do this except that it's one of our club's Grand Prix races. Too hilly and too much off-road for me!
  • I'll be in my Walshes, if you've got shoes with good grip you'll appreciate them several times during the race!

  • With the rain we're having, wellies might be more appropriate! Hope this wind dies down else we'll be blown over on the home stretch.
  • Right - Mudrocs it is then! I hope it stays wet and windy - adds to the fun!
  • As long as it isn't cold, i don't mind!
