I finally won a gong!

Wow! I was happy with my time, but I didnt think Id won anything! I left the event before the presentations, because I had other engagements, but jeeze! One of my clubmates picked up my gong & prize 'money' for me, and he gave it to me last night. Its my first ever trophy, and I love it! Have to try and win some solo ones to match with it now

Originally 'gong' used to be a medal, due to the similarities is shape. Colloquially it means any sort of trophy-prize thing...
My particular gong was a gold-coloured plastic man running to shake someones hand in a unitard and hob-nailed boots, on a pedastool
Not the organizers fault, just a case of the sponsers giving out prizes in goods.
we assembled by the trophies before the race on Sunday. Closest I'll ever come to picking one up....
I did win a spot prize once - money off Wella hair products - does that count ?
