    Hi All:

    Well done to everyone!!!

Got back early this afternoon. Aching like anything, but it was worth it! Managed to get a PB - 5:10 - beating my first marathon time by 44 minutes, I'm well chuffed!

Does anyone have any advice regarding blisters? Any help would be VERY gratefully appreciated!

Just read through all the posts and giggling away at mollys attempt to get to 3000!! Well done all you pbers - that's superb. I'm a minute over my edinburgh time but I don't mind. I'm gutted i didn't wear my green ribbon and i didn't see any either.

Bungee your vaseline on feet tip worked a treat - no blisters so mooey get yourself a big tub. It's just my thighs and calf sore today but don't know if anyone else gets this after a long run but roof of my mouth sore just when i eat - was tucking into a fish supper for tea in Aviemore when it hurt and i remembered same thing happened after edinburgh - weird.

Well done again everyone and have a nice relaxing night.

Well, finally home after 3 hour flight delay.   Brilliant weekend and great to meet so many forumites, some superb finishing times.

Very pleased with my 4.49.25, my 3rd fastest time ever (and I have done quite a few marathons), just 2 mins slower than my current PB.   Unfortunately I will now have to attempt a PB next week at Leicester as it will be a faster course and I can't really let the opportunity pass as it will be my last chance of a PB this year.

For those of you that know Flying Ant who was attempting his  first sub 3 - he did 2.54!

Finished this in around 4:05:04 according to my Garmin, but I didn't stop that straightaway and it said 26.35 miles anyway.....

Was doing fairly well up to around 15 miles when my calves started to tighten up a bit and it became harder to run....tried a walk/run approach but it became more difficult as time went on.  Had expected my right leg to have problems from the ITB tightness I had recently, but it was fine.  Eventually finished though - did really want sub-4 hours but I'll get that at my next marathon (London if I get in or Edinburgh that I'm already in).

To be honest the hills weren't that bad at the start.  Took them slowly and not overly fast down them.  Walked a bit of the big hill (Garmin said 17.65 miles when it started and was over 20 miles when things flattened out - then again, my Garmin also gave every mile marker, expect for 19 miles, around 0.15 miles earlier than the signs).

Beautiful scenery, especially at the start in the middle of nowhere down some country lane.  Was on the first bus and that had a toilet which was fun to try and use what with the rollercoaster bus ride!

    Things that bothered me:

Too quiet - not crowd wise as it did go through a lot of areas with no population (although when there were people, they really supported you!)....apart from runners' footsteps and the C5 helicoptor at the start and a powerboat on Loch Ness, everything was pretty silent - no birds etc.

The finish - running along the main road and then making a sharp turn through the gate for the grass/track.  I like to put in a fast finish and ground pretty much to a half at the bottleneck here what with other runners and marshals etc guiding you in.

Liked the goody bag.  Nice jar of Baxters marmalade, can and packet of soup, some Lo-Salt, couple of shortbread biscuits, a woman's Nivea body lotion kit etc......the two bottles of Lucozde sport and bottle of water + 2 bananas were a nice touch too....lovely shiny gold medal as well image

Ache a bit today.....hips are sore but my calves aren't that bad.  No feet problems either - did put a blob of vaseline on my right foot as a preventative measure

If yes did you have a 100 marathon top on and at around the 22 mile mark you turned  and said "can you smell that food"? I said "oh yuck it's making me feel sick". If not just ignore my yabbering!!

I only saw one person wearing a Fetch t-shirt during the race......did see the 3-4 people on the right hand side of the road after the roundabout at the start of Inverness with all the Fetch stuff though.....weird first exit there - obviously they starting building a road but had nowhere for it to go to!

Must have crossed the line somewhere near you, Santababy, as I came in around the 4:05:00 mark (not sure exactly yet till I see the results but 4:05:04 on my Garmin) - was paying more attention to the cameras either side of the finish, looking for family in the crowd and finally the central tv cam and the shiny medal racks!
