And I do have a PayPal account. If I get into trouble with eBay I am going to blame you lot! It’s not my fault, it was peer pressure, I am very impressionable!
I had to do that when my credit card details changed, and it wouldn't let me alter them - kept telling me the card number was not valid.
I got so fed up in the end that I just cancelled it. You can always re-instate it in the future if you need to.
But it's OK, I am not really worried about it.

It still has a week to run anyway, but if you haven't already done so - report it to them as you dont want to have to pay up!
Since my chances of getting a place are so tiny, I don't think I'll worry about it (too late now, if they do!)
I don't think eBay would be allowed to give them details of the bidders, or even the seller, come to that. Data Protection and all that.
but i guess we may never get to find out, unless a forumite wins the bid, which you seem to be on course for.
eBay can and should withdraw the individual's membership, but it would be easy enough to get round that if you wanted to start from scratch as an eBay member under a different name and email address.

also, could someone that has bid post something against the person - the help site suggests the comments are permanent against the seller
The aim is to make the seller think they're going to get loads of dosh, but they're about to find out that they're not going to be allowed to sell it at all.
I am SO temped to put in a bid for £500,000 - but I think I've been silly enough already.
If I go out for a beer over the weekend then log on to the computer when I get home, that will be probablt be fatal though!
