Normally I try to beat my race number with my finsihing place - not this time! Still my target is to break 50 mins, so this time it is to beat my number with my time.
Weather looks good this weekend so plenty opportunity for some good runs.

I have a question....my 9 year old also got his number as he's entered the fun run. However, his bib says 10k and there's not sign of fun run on it anywhere. Has anyone elses little ones got this or has he accidently been put into the 10k run??
My daughter is 11 and my son is 7, but he has learning problems so I will have to run round with him. It is a good way of warming up LOL. I was knackered just doing the fun run with him last year.
Urmm, don't think he's particularly fast. He doesn't run regularly but likes doing the occasional fun run. He doesn't particularly like competition though and is a really caring nurturing sort who enjoys helping others so he may still want to run along side you.
I've thought of doing the fun run as a warm up but am afraid i'll run out of steam!
Great results, Sunday must have left you without finger nails. Yesterday was more like it :^)
6th May is a no run day as My Son has a football cup final and I will be required to attend. It's probably going to be at the local mega-stadium - Salisbury - which he will love.
Expediture on football matches is low on the priority list currently as I was made redundant in February, so no Wembley or Athens unless you have free tickets of course ;^)
Have a go at Marwell if you don't have any other events planned.
Hi, am running this as my first 10k. Got my race number today (1115) - can anyone help with a bit of admin... does anyone know what time the zoo opens on the day - the zoo website says 10am, but surely it is open way before this to get everyone in?? Many thanks Paul
Thanks for the information, Tracey. Sounds like it might be a warm one, so will have to take it very sensibly! It seems, from reading the comments, that the hilly first 5k is a long drag rather than anything too severe - is that right??
The first bit in the zoo is small undulations. Once you leave the zoo there is a slow drag up a hill not too bad. I would take a drink because the water station is at the top of the hill in the village just before 5k. Then there is a down hill section and another little up hill section.

I don't want to take 66 mins to finish that was my first Marwell finish time in 2005.
This year it has to be under 60mins.

My kids have 10k on their numbers too.
I have email them and also left a message on their mobile phone number.
I can see it being more of a problem for them re 10k race. They have a limit of a 1,000 runners, this will make less places for 10k runners.
I did not notice the tear off strip.
I will probably have to run round with my son again this year.
This is the response to my email.
HI Tracey
The whole event is classed at the Marwell 10k
Don't worry they will only run the fun run - not the 10k !

....unless, he runs around with your son and we can sit back and do nothing....

Is your son a fast runner?
I've thought of doing the fun run as a warm up but am afraid i'll run out of steam!
I'll have to see how I feel on the day.
He is welcome to run with us. If he does, he will get his photo taken by my husband.
We'll have to plan a meet up of forumites on the day.
I need an accurate resume of the course for PB potential - I ran 38.55 at Yeovilton last week.
CDP - you going to OT tomorrow?
Marwell is a bit hilly for a PB IMHO.
Can't make OT tomorrow are you going?
Good to see you are back.

Will take your advice re Marwell - are you doing Fordingbridge on 6th May (10K) or you doing Salisbury 10M?
I'm back now, fully recovered - spend more time focus on duathlon and 10K now. Hope you're well. Massive game for us last week - did you travel?
The start of Marwell Zoo is very tightly packed and it start it up a little hill.
CDP - maybe see you at Fordingbridge?
Wembley??
Athens???

The kids race starts at 10am. I will open before that, mind you I had to run to the start of the kids race last year.
Be aware that the first half is up hill and that the water station is just before 5k. If it is hot I would advise you take a drink with you.
It is a lovely race thou.
Note to self.
Must get to zoo earlier this year. Running to start of fun, doing it and 15 mins later doing 10k is not fun.
The first bit in the zoo is small undulations. Once you leave the zoo there is a slow drag up a hill not too bad. I would take a drink because the water station is at the top of the hill in the village just before 5k. Then there is a down hill section and another little up hill section.
Never done this race in 26c thou.
What time do you want to do it in.
It would be nice to do it in under 60mins.
Can we expand the runners names, times and numbers a bit? It is always nice to put a face to a name......
