Sunday slow runs - advice needed

hi, the last two sundays ive been out for a longer run than usual, about 8 miles each time. Both weeks Ive been absolutely exhausted for the rest of the day. However as I have two young kids I dont get much chance to rest and have been really bad tempered with them cos Im so tired.

Should I really be this knackered ?

I want to carry on with the long runs as I want to run a half marathon later this year.

Will i get used to this ? or should i be doing something different ?

  • Hi, did you increase the mileage slowly? Could you be running your long run a bit too fast??
  • I get tired after my long runs too. The best cure I have found is to take plenty of fluid with me (preferably sports drink), rehydrate fully afterwards and make sure I eat as soon as I get back to speed the recovery process (within the first hour afterwards is the most critical time for getting the fuel back into you). Oh and try to get to bed early the night before.
