20 miler this weekend

It's time for a FLM 20 miler - anybody got a good route which clips into central London?

    Micheal,

trying combining a number of the routes on the serpies website to give you a 20 miler. Something like along the thames (north and south bank) and then round green park, hyde park and kensington gardens!

Check out the routes on www.serpentine.org.uk

From Sloane Square down the King's Road, into Chelsea, across the Thames into Battersea, onto Clapham Common, maybe onto Wandsworth Common. Then back via a slightly different route, maybe via Battersea Park and Victoria. Think that should be about 20 miles? Did this route once but that was about seven years ago!

    Hi Michael,
this is what we are doing tonight, and it should be a 20 mile run:

    Distance : 20 miles (approx.....).....ouch!!!!

Route : Seymour ....Marble Arch...Notting Hill...Holland Park Walk....Earls Court....Battersea Bridge...Battersea Park (around West / South / East Carriage Drive ...past track).....Cross Chelsea Bridge ... East along North Bank ... Cross Vauxhall Bridge....East along South Bank to Tower Bridge....cross Tower Bridge .....East Smithfield....Thomas More Street....St Katherine's Dock....Tower Of London....West along North Bank.... Westminster... Birdcage Walk.. .Buck Palace.... Green Park Tube(hill)...Hyde Park Corner... Marble Arch... Seymour....Shower....Larrik pub.....Home...Bed!

It also covers the end of the FLM to get used to it and that we know where we are on the big day.

Not a central london run (so may be of no use whatsoever!!), but if you can get to Putney Bridge, you can run along the towpath of the Thames (southside) for miles and miles (Kingston and beyond). Great run, loads of other runners to say hello to and great scenery.

Great Union Canal, leaving Maida Vale (W9). Long tow path, no cars, little bit of water to sooth the mind and evil looking geese. Longest I've down is 7 miles there and 7 miles back. Boring to some, but don't have to worry about getting lost.

Ginger, ran the Serpie "Boatrace" course in October last year (13 miles). It was getting pretty muddy then. How is it now?

Oh, or you can run around Regents Park 7.6 times (just kidding!)

Muzzer, there are a few puddles, but generally it's pretty good for running at the moment (at least it is between Putney and Richmond, not sure of beyond as haven't done that stretch recently). Grand Union Canal sounds good - except the geese!!

take yourself to Richmond Park! One lap of that is 7.25 miles so do 2 and a bit. Scenery is fantastic, the run is interesting, its traffic free and it isn't on concrete so it will be a bit more forgiving on the limbs.

Only down side is that it isn't really 'central' London but it is well served by buses etc.

I'll be doing a 20M round there on Sunday - yikes!
