Yippee, I've just got my number through today. I had pretty much assumed I'd missed the deadline, as I hadn't heard anything and my cheque hadn't been cashed, but I guess it was 'cos I'd been too mean to use 1st class stamps!
YEP, Tigger is a cairn terrier, and although he has just walked miles and miles up and down mountains in North Wales, he's not really into running half marathons:-O
Am I dumb or is the form well hidden on the website?? Can't find it.. Also, I did 65 min at 10K in May, is it wise for me to attempt a half in September? Of course, will do my best to train properly until then;-)
After the well poxy half that I ran today - its train train train!
I plan to build up the mileage and do some lengthy tempo runs in preparation as I faded today after 8 miles despite having run more than the distance in training but I haven't done enough pacey stuff since FLM.
I currently have my attention the Penny Lane 10k (are you doing that btw?) on July 8th, but after that I will start cranking up the mileage for this one...
Oo err, 12 weeks did you say?!!! I've got some milage to put in (specially considering I've got the Dublin mara 8 weeks later - on my honeymoon LOL :op).
DazTheSlug Keen and outresting for 10 days at the moment matey... on physio's orders, but yeah, I'll be at Pennylane... did it in 2005 I think... when I was a fay git lol... so yeah, I'll be there!!!
Hi everyone! I am still having problems with my knee. I have been told by my fizz not to do ANY running for a month. I won't be doing Vyrnwy because I can't get in the necessary 12 weeks training, even if the knee miraculously recovers in a month's time. I've decided therefore, not to train at all other than a few light runs until September and to concentrate on getting fit for next year! As you can imagine, I am very disappointed, but there is no use in kidding myself any longer...
Speedy - Sorry to hear that, you must be gutted ( You sound like you're doing the right thing taking it easy though. You can build slowly through the winter, and be raring to go in the New Year, is that your plan? What's wrong with your knee exactly?
I had a month off running 2 years ago and did lots of cross training to not only maintain but to build fitness. I took the month off between half marathons and ran the next one faster than the previous one
Thanks for your replies, Daz and Mr Happy. My left kneecap hurts and sometimes also my left ankle. My fizz has given me exercises to do e.g. to improve my ITBs and to stop my quads being so dominant! I have been to a podiatrist who says I have a twist in my spine and one femur shorter than the other. I also over-pronate. she has given me some insoles for my trainers which I wear all the time. I am also considering going to a chiropractor as well. In the meantime, I am doing lots of cross-training on the glidex, rowing machine, spin-cycle, weights, yoga etc. On Sat night, I did a half marathon moonlight walk in 3:05 hours and happened to come home second! ( It wasn't a race, but hey...!)I really miss running however, as it has become a big part of my life!
Speedy, don't give up hope. Keep doing the cross training to maintain fitness. I have Planter Faciitis in my left heel and have been told by the hospital that I have arthritis in my right knee. Even though I can't train at the moment, I will be running at 'Lake Vyrnwy'.
Speedy - wow, sounds like you're really in the wars! if you really do have one femur shorter than the other, that would sound like a likely cause for most/all of your probs, wouldn't it? if you can get orthotics sorted to correct for it, that sounds like the way to go - Good Luck! (and keep us informed...)
Plans more than a little scuppered. Had an MRI scan on back and got operated within 24hrs last Sunday..... didnt expect that. LOL a few raised eyebrows that I'd run 2 marathons on it this year, though surgeon said no PB, but he reckons I might still make Berlin! so def no running for a few weeks eh!?
Still mean to run this half though think time targets have changed........

seems to fill up earlier every year - I just missed out last year, when I think it filled up in about the first week of June.
Entries for that are still open and they do normally still allow entries on the day if it isn't full.
I have a few mates that are waiting for a reply. When did you send in your application...?

Will try to find another one..
what a shame..

Hi Pug - this may be my best race ever as I reckon September /October is about my peak.
(Its all relative)

I will crack 1:45 for this! Its suprising how time will fly. Not that long now!
Hey, I'm out of this one. Had my entry back in the post a couple of weeks ago as the race is full :-((
But on the bright side am now doing an 18 miler the day b4, Brecon to Merthyr, then the Cardiff 10k on the Sunday.
Will be sorry to miss it but maybe next year.
