I've recently bought a Garmin 405 with HRM. Does anyone know roughly how long the HRM battery lasts? I don't want it to konk out half way though a marathon!!
Well done Fat Buddha - you must be Google King - how does that feel?! Must feel great.
I had a quick look and couldn't find the answer so thought I'd post a question on this forum - to be honest forums are more fun than Google. I can live without being Google King!
If you've not changed your battery for a while and you're concerned about it, it would be a good idea to put a new one in anyway prior to running your marathon. Not that expensive for a pack on Ebay.
Wilkie - thats great, but with respect, surely this is what forums are for?!?! If it annoys you so much, just ignore my post! Some people are just not as good as Google-ing as others, sorry if this offends you.
Then the forum gets filled up with questions which have either been asked and answered before (because people can't be arsed to do a search and look back), or which they could find out very quickly and easily via google.
You don't need to be good at googling - you simply type in your question, exactly as you did into the forum - and you get an instant response.
(And I do normally ignore such threads. It's a slow morning.)
as Wilkie says, the place gets bombarded with questions that people with a bit of thought can find out the answer themselves
for this one I simply googled "garmin 405cx hrm battery life" - top result was a link to the 405 page on the Garmin site - click on accessories - click on fitness sensors - click on HRM - click on manuals - data is there in front of me.
For me, I mis-read the initial question and thought it was how long does it last it one session (e.g. for an ironman)... in total - I think it depends.
Comments
the datasheet says 8hrs in training mode
Thanks Fat Buddha - but I meant the actual HRM transmitter that straps to your chest!
Any ideas anyone?
Battery life: approximately 3 years (1 hour per day)
not difficult is it?

Happy Google-ing, and thanks for the answer.
I'm with FB - it's just not that hard to find information, and people just can't be bothered.
Lazy!
I googled your question and got the answer in three seconds.
nope - feels quite ordinary as it happens
but hey ho - only pleased to help on something you could have easily found out yourself.

it really isn't difficult
Mine was even easier:
I googled "How long does a Garmin HRM battery last?"
The search took 0.23 seconds, I chose the fifth result down (as it was exactly the same question) and got an answer instantly.
Does that make me Google Queen??
As for "how long does the battery on the bloody watch last"?
Not long enough for a 5 hour marathon in my experience! But I think it's busted.
I might even google the address for a repair, or I could get my servants FB and Wilkie to do it for me.

Should we change his name to Fat Butler?
The battery on my 405 lasts over six hours. I've no wish to partake in events that last longer than that!
I've never felt the need to keep track of my pace on a drinking sesh
It would probably be worryingly fast, though....
So how long does it last?

I found it in under 5 seconds, 3rd link after a ctrl c and ctrl v of the thread title.
If you leave it wet, or leave one electrode plugged in, very little time, less than two months.
About 6 months was normal for me. Much less than the advertised time.
