  • Thanks - think that was about my time when i ran when i was a kid - much slower 25 years on! but well run, hope to see you next year and you can break 50 minutes!

Disappointed the Echo did not cover the event with photographer but more than happy with snaps by villager!

  •   Dusted my boots off and made a come back! Caught out by the "mixed" terrain but really enjoyed it. Will be back in 2013.

  • I was just wondering if anyone knows if the organisers have sent out the Certificates for the runners (Waddler in my case image) who didn't receive them on the day?

I know it's a little sad, but it was my first ever event and a record of the day would be good.

  • have got another batch printed (bit surprised by numbers on the day!) - will get them signed and sent out hopefully this week to those who did not get them. We have the records.

  • hi - just over 4 weeks to go to my annual "run" (did a 5 miler this morning and it hurts!)- hope everyone has trained hard and ready for the race. Lash year we had 315 runners and would love to get that number again! Please let any running friends know we are ready to go (register at www.quartermarathon.co.uk)

    cheers

  • Hi there - I have just recently moved into Lower Apperley and have seen all the advertising for the Apperley 1/4 marathon. I do a lot of spin at the gym but have never been a runner however, this really appeals to me. How hard is it, realistically???

  • beth - it depends! if you have a good level of base fitness 4 weeks is ample time to get fit enough to get around comfortably (decent training schedules on RW). I have run it in various states of fitness (from none to having done a recent half marathon) and always got round. I know some runners around the village that will happily go for a run with you. pop up to cricket club on a Friday evening and say hi if you want. cheers Rowan

  • Hi all, I now live in Apperley and i'm doing the AQM this year, I have checked on the website and found the course but on this thread it states that the course has changed. Does anyone know what the course is going to be this year? If so, could you let me know please.

    Thanks, Mike.

  • mike

the course on the site is correct as of nine days to go! we have had to tweak a couple of bits from last year for various reasons but most of the course is the same -start at the cricket club, down court drive throug some private property, up past school dow to coal house, down river bank to deerhurst, through the churchyard, up barn road and throug some fileds to wightfield manor, past the village hall, back past school and finish at the cricket club! should make sense to a local -well marshalled and directions on the day

    goodluck on the day

  • if you run every quarter marathon since 2010 let us know for a name check on the day! also anyone who ran the first incarnation of the quarter marathon in the 1980s will get a name check!

    cheers

  • Do we no when todays results will be posted?
  • Yes, when will the results be posted and where? Thanks

  • the chipped timing situation was beyond our control I am afraid - the guy who kindly did this for us last year had his young daughter seriously ill in the period up to the race and no way were we going to ask him to help in that situation - there are more important things than running! should have it back in operation next year!

hate not starting on time - apologies for that (mic going down did not help)

thanks for everyone that did run - important part of cricket club raising around £1500 for Wallace and Gromit Grand Appeal. we hope to get bigger and better next year. cheers!

  •  if all runners pre-registered and pre-paid the on the day admin would be a breeze but we are not going to turn people away unless we get to 500 registered and paid way before the race! ta to the 40-50 volunteers who gave up their time as well if you are reading this!

used to get email notifications of entries onto this thread but don't seem to anymore - else would have whacked up results earlier.

  • I ran the "race". Enjoyed it will prob run it next year. It is good to see it actually raises money for worth while causes, Wallace and Gromit. My wife especially enjoyed the bar-b-q!

  • Selena - think it was 295 (bit down on last year - but busy time of year with Park Runs now, a tri the next day, a 10 k 3 miles away the next day and Cheltenham 1/2 the week after) as a few started but because of injuries could not finish.

Thanks John - i enjoy the bbq the best as well - burn off a few hundred calories then eat about 3 hot dogs straight after. The charity element is an important part of the race and will continue to be so as long as i am involved!
