Hello! I am entered for the Robin hood half in a couple of weeks...but can anyone tell me what the course is like? Assuming (and hoping) its pretty flat...
Actually I think it's kind of a shame though because I ran it last year and one of the nicest bits in terms of crowd support was the hilly bit through Wollaton Park that they've got rid of this year.
It is mainly along the water ways of nottingham. They will be hills over train line bridges and im expecting the uni one, but its pritty flat looking at the map and knowing the area(i live here) I am really looking forward to it even though i have tight calf thats pulling my shin at the mo. Where are you coming from? I have been running with the sweatshop who sponsor it and trainig wise we have mainly done water ways and about once a month we do 4 repeats on a hill so hoping they have trained us right. lol Good luck. whats your exprcted time?
Hi Lisa, I live close by so I know most of the route. I checked out some of the route on my bike this morning through the Boots site which is flat but goes over a steepish bridge to get over to the Uni. I didn't think we went up the Uni hill this time but it looks like we do. It is the only long hill so it's just a case of hanging on for the long downhill afterwards. Fast course so ... what's your target?
I think we'll be running downhill at the university, if we're running through the Trent Building courtyard and then round the lake, as the (not very detailed) course map seems to indicate. Lisa, I think the hill you are thinking of is the one that leads from the south-west corner of the university campus up to one of the gates at the north side, which we used to run up to get to Wollaton Park, and that doesn't seem to be in there any more.
There are massive hills all over the place...seriously it's going to kill your legs...in fact they may fall off...or maybe not. The race site says new flat course...so by that I would assume it's erm....flat. HTH.
The route doesn't go through Wollaton Park this year, i don't think. It does go through the Trent Building courtyard, but it's a gentle uphill to get to that, then a nice downhill down to the lake.
ditto Saffy Sweety Pea ... nice downhill. I promise one bridge to go up and over on the way out of the Boots site and one (Abbey) bridge to go up and over on the way back just after the QMC/University. Trent Building in between Weather looks OK, hopefully not too much wind!!!

They've changed the route this year to make it flatter. There's a blog entry on the official website by someone who's run the new course and says there two hills, but not very serious ones: http://www.robinhoodhalfmarathon.co.uk/race-info/dave-normans-running-blog.htm

Flat apart from 2 rail bridges ... must be a PB course. My 4th time
Oh ... and Jubilee Avenue over in the University Park ... that's an uphill bit too

Wollaton Park counts as a hard Hill?!

Sounds a bit flat to me. I enjoyed the gentle climb through Woolaton Park - disappointed by the lack of deer, though.
I ran through Wollaton Park this morning and saw loads of deer! It was pretty early, though.
Yes, a few thousand runners probably makes a difference.

Hi,
I know this is unrelated to the thread, but I missed the registration for this event and am currently trying to find a spare registration.
If anyone knows anyone who is registered and is not intending to compete please can you put them in contact with me!
Is there any chance of resgistering on the day of the event?
