OPR - fingers crossed for you.

Slightly quicker efforts with the club last night - effectively 8x400 up and down a well light stretch of road. A hard session which I just about managed! I'm running the efforts reasonably strongly, but my powers of recovery are a bit rusty as Id like to be running this phase a bit quicker (as it's 400m).

Legs are feeling a bit battered this morning, so just a little dawdle today.

Have a good day and stay dry.

  • Did 7km on the treadmill in the end as the weather curtailed any chance of doing a run outside.

Meant to only do 5km but was feeling so good that I couldn't drag myself off!

Plan is to rest up this evening and tomorrow day time. Thinking of doing a swim session tomorrow evening depending on if this cold has progressed at all image

  • Hope it comes to nothing OPR. If you don't have a regular sports massage I'd be wary of having one the day before the race. If it has to be then let the masseur know to take it very easy on you.

Dentist was better than the run! He just stuck a temporary filling on, no injections, no drilling, no worries. Just hope it holds until I get the referral to the specialist dentist through. Ankle was fine on my run but left knee was grumbly and I noticed as I started to tire (which was far too early) that I was running on the outside of my right foot - most noticeable on any sort of downward slope. When I concentrated on putting it down correctly I developed an ache in my lower back and hip so I think I must have twisted as I fell on Sunday and put myself out slightly. Hopefully it will sort itself out. I had to cancel my sports massage on Monday as there was no way she'd have been able to work on my right leg but am booked in this coming Monday.

If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.
  • OPR:  I would second LMH re massage...indeed I would save it for after the race. The first time I saw my present QofP (Queen of Pain, appropriately named) I could barely walk the next day.

Progress is rarely a straight line. There are always bumps in the road, but you can make the choice to keep looking ahead.
  • Good reminders for me to book a pre-emptive strike with the Fizzy O.
Lots of damaged and slowly recovering folk around these parts at the moment, so best wishes to all of you/us.

A dry day where I was today, and just got home in time for it to start raining. Normally I hate going out in the rain, but I could see from the clouds that this forecast was going one direction only. So, a pleasant 6.5 miles in mild rain ensued. The last half mile was at 7:20m/m carrying a large marrow.

    Guess what's for tea?

Blisters...so is it 3.25 miles to the allotment?
  • I was just enjoying a damp run and saw some painted rocks on the footpath. Wondering why they were there, it was only as I passed that I realised that they were overgrown courgettes, and clearly placed there for anyone to take home.

It must have looked slightly odd though. The only person I did see was so engrossed in her mobile phone conversation that I could have been running naked and carrying a pig and she wouldn't have noticed.

Blisters:I live in Lincolnshire, the produce growing centre of the universe. I few years I got caught short on a long run and dived into a field of cabbages, and used handy leaves to clear up my shortcomings. as I ran out of the field I saw a notice which read "grown by Lincs Farm Produce for Asda"....now I only shop at Tesco!
