OK part of my nail ripped off and then had to be cut as ragged edge was cutting adjacent toe. Nailbed is now exposed.
Went to GP today who said fine to run unless painful but get it dressed. Nurse put iodine dressing and then dressing on top which makes it huge! She gave me a supply of dressings so can redress it myself.
Was meant to be running today but given that a miss as whatever I do dressing would have to changed after my post run shower. However thinking of doing it tomorrow but should I run with dressing or take it off and just stick a plaster on for run so less bulky. I would try and avoid puddles wherever possible and clean and re-dress on return from run.
Any thoughts?

Well did 8 mile run on it and was okay! Need to work out the best dressing for it when running though!

That's good. I think it can be a challenge having good toe nails as a runner
It is good job OH isn't into feet! Already have two black toenails on other foot and one of them is barely a toenail anymore but came off naturally so not too bad!
The problem is to keep it on requires several plasters because of where it is! Thought it was me but nurse's dressing was just as bulky!
From the thread title I thought you were into this kind of nail bed:
Well, not necessarily. If someone is constantly getting black and damaged toenails from running, there's something not right somewhere. The shoes might be slightly too small, they might not be tying the laces tight enough, or they might not be cutting their toenails short enough. With everything trimmed, fitted and laced up correctly, toenails should be able to stand up to marathon distance no bother.
