I am getting the second half of my tattoo done on Thursday. Its quite a long one. Covers my shoulder, and goes down to just above my elbow. I did the first session in two and a half hours. There were some moments when it really did hurt, but i just sat there, chewed gum, and apart from the odd 'fuck! that hurts' at normal talking decibles, i just took the pain. If your going to be a pussy, then dont go under the needle is my motto, but just looking on youtube now, i couldnt believe some peoples reactions. One woman, just freaked out.
Anyone got any stories of their own?

I haven't found mine painful so far. A few tender spots where there's not so much flesh, but otherwise I got used to the sensation fairly quickly.
Talking to the guys in the tattoo studio, it seems to be the built-like-a-brick-shithouse hardmen who break out in a cold sweat and collapse in a heap.
I fell asleep having mine done. But then both were on my shoulder blade muscle bits so not very painful places.
I thought I was going to pass out! And I do have a high pain threshold...mines is on my lower back righ on the spine.
I've been with a friend who had it done on her rib cage. She had tears in her eyes but didnt scream. In comparison - another friend who had it on her thigh was screaming to high heaven about the pain.
one of mine is on my foot, just a small one, and while it was being done, my calf muscle wobbled the whole time, it was really wierd!
I would never have a tattoo. I hate pain.
Personally I find a visit to the dentist far more painful.
There's a lot to be said for a little pain, Rickster
Sounds very kinky!
Is it a case of
"Sticks and stones may break my bones,
But whips and chains delight me?"
Depends on the place in the body.
Arms werent painful at all, neither was any other place.... But the one that was tattooed over my ribs....I could have died. And it lasted for 4 hours!
I had mine done 3 times in the same place as it kept fading really badly and I kept extending it till I was happy with it.
First time I couldn't believe how painful it was, second time not so bad and the third time it was almost tolerable. However there was one part of it that hurt like a b*stard every time- inner side of foot, just above instep, just below ankle on the bone.....
No tears (never found they help with pain) but I did count to 100 over and over and broke the skin on my hands where my nails were digging in.
So they're not only ugly and disfiguring but painful as well. More fool you, in my ever so 'umble opinion
Like I said above, the dentist is worse. I don't find tatooing painful.
I've always thought the pain of epilation was worse. My husband confirmed this as he wants a sleeve of tats - but won't let me epilate him again
Few moments of pain for a lifetime of beauty
Although like anything there are good ones, bad ones and the truly horrific.
The one on the inside of my wrist hurt like hell, especially the bits that come down close to my hand but other than a sharp intake of breath I didn't feel the need to verbalise the pain any more than that.
I don't understand these clips you see of people screaming when they get waxed either...yes it hurts but not enough to make you scream for goodness sake!!
Well i had the second part of my tattoo done on Thursday. It was on my right arm. It did hurt quite a lot at times. It took two hours. I took the pain though, just chewing bubble gum, and kept telling myself to stop being a pussy, everytime it started to get to me. So i kept quite, showed no emotion, and let my tattooist do his work.
Overall it was worth it. Its only after, when you realise the pain wasnt so bad, and you could deal with it again. But everyone has a different pain threshold.
Amongst others, I've had my elbow done - that's the only one that really hurt. All the others have been more than bearable
