Alehouse - you'll be standing up and walking out soon enough!
OH - fortunately I'm not on FB and they're posted as friends of friends only so not many will be able to view them.
Dustin - that sounds like an enjoyable weekend.
GGG - how are you this morning?
I'm over it guys - thank you for the support. Knees are somewhat stiff and left ankle achey though the blister on the end of my toe and the tendency to cramp are probably the most annoying - trying to sleep and this morning. I'm having banana in my porridge and will drink well throughout the day - any other tips? Gentle swim on the way home this afternoon or a whole rest day?
What: something or nothing Why: trying to choose the best course for recovery Last hard: working out my timing mistake Last rest: 20/10
Lyrics - I do.
If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.
morning all, lyric - yes indeed. Don't like the song but can understand the sentiment! AleH- continued best wishes for the recovery LmH - try repeating "never again"....hasnt worked for me yet but maybe one day... what - 6 miles easy why - ticking over last rest (from running) - saturday last hard - friday
This time next week, I'll have finished my first marathon (or I'll be 21 hours into the run) - How do people concentrate on work during weeks like this?!
Inspirational writing from LMH and postie yesterday. Really good thanks. Postie.. what did that 'timing band' physically look like? Did you print out the times on paper and fold/selotape it into a band to go round your wrist?
What - 3 mile easy
Why - keep loose.
Lyrics - Put my fingers in my ears or tell you to shut up.
Morning all, hope you're all well and had a better start to the day than me... My front drive is gravelled (giant litter tray) you guessed it, stood in the biggest pile of cat poo heading out to work this morning :-/
What: maybe run this afternoon Why: half day has been moved to Monday this week Last rest: Friday Last hard: kayaking yesterday afternoon (shouldn't have been but certainly feeling the last few miles) Lyrics: YES
LMH Not sure why I was priviledged to see your photos as I don't know the owner. Maybe Friends of Friends can be quite reaching Nice pictures whatever
RW All the best for the weekend. This is the time many of us get a bit hypochondriacal worrying about injuries
What: foggy 8 mile road bike ride. Why: It's the gentle start to the regular training returning Last hard: the hills yesterday Lyrics: yes, I like this one
LMH if I were you a rest today then a gently swim/ride tomorrow, but that's just me. RW I often get distracted by running while at work...week before a big race is no different! Good luck getting through the week
Good morning. You'll get by alehouse! Feeling good today thanks LMH, must be the day off. I've got that childhood feeling of being off school when you shouldn't really be.
What: Easy 5k.
Why: Wanted to get out but take it easy after Cabbage Patch. Waiting for chip time - surprised by delay, we had chips on our shoes AND on the race number - but am happy with 1:29:39 gun time. 10 mile's a nice distance to race, it doesn't take as much out of you as HM but a bigger challenge than 10k.
LMH: glad you are over the initial disappointment because that was a damn fine race you ran there! Think of all the uncertainty in the buildup. Love the fact that you passed so many people - a sure sign that you ran a very clever race. You put Devises man firmly in his place . WELL DONE
postie: awesome time . Blimey, but a 5 minutes and something PB when you are already incredibly fast is quite a feat. Goes to show what's possible... Incredible. Just out of curiosity: what's your peak weekly mileage?
GGG: nice 10 miler. I agree - it's a great distance.
what: nowt why: Monday is my designated rest day last hard: 7/10 last rest: 15/10 lyrics: yes
OH - aren't you friends with Mark? Rich seems to be the only photographer who makes me look good!
Paddy - still nothing other than swimming then? VLM next year will be my next shot at it.
emzap - no time for a swim tomorrow as have to go to the specialist dentist after work - should just be for an initial assessment but it has been said that he may decide to do something there and then.
I found a sensible head whilst walking Grace this morning and have decided to do no training until Friday at the earliest - wonder if I'll last that long? Going to try though as they only time I've had more than a day off is whilst ill and I don't actually have any races entered until the end of January.
If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.
Might try tomorrow, but Sciatica has hit be big this time. I've done nothing now for over two weeks - can't remember the last time I ran - and it appears that cycling doesnt agree with me (at least my current position which i'm being told could be the cause of the problems this time). Anyway crying wont help.
LMH - friends with MrsMac was wot did it (have now sent Mark a Friend request) Have you stopped beating yourself up inappropriately yet?
Chickadee - well said
Coastguard helicopter just brought in 19 after supply helicopter ditched with 19 on board near Fair Isle. 3 lifeboats launched. Els called backed in to hospital but sounds as if all might be OK. Fortunately its a nice day here with god visibility and flat seas.
I was overdressed in long Gore bottoms and merino Tshirt today for 6 miler with Elspeth (12C and no wind) - I could easily have gone for a swim afterwards. As good as it gets for Orkney at this time of year!
((Paddy)) It will get better
Postie would have been a shame to waste a day off for recovery time
Wabo yep had some great times kayaking and Orkney's a great place for it. This Sunday was less challenging although we did have one unintended swim
Quite a lot of basking in yesterday well executed achievements, and deservedly so - Postie, LMH and 3Gs.
Paddy - sorry to hear your having sciatica issue. Have seen anyone (other than your GP) about. It might be worth considering the possibilites of piraformis syndrome (my sciatica was misdiagnosed as that!) or issues with Sacro Illiac joint misallignment (the cause of my sciatica - took 12 months to get it diagnosed). There's also the obvious back and spinal issues than can cause it of course.
OH - I have. We heard about the incident on the news and wondered if you'd be out on the lifeboat, glad to hear that all was well. I can't believe you're not still in shorts - I haven't even got the capri's out yet!
If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.
All helicopter crew and passengers rescued, didn't need hospital services and are being catered for in local hotel, outfitted by local sports shop. Wish I had been in shorts today
LMH and Postie, both fab report but even better PB's, MASSIVE well dones to you both for all your richly deserved training and the reults that you got, chuffed to bits for you both.
What - 8.25m Why - Speed work as no LSR yesterday as was shot and dead tired so took an unexpeceted rest day as knew that running was not an option.... was a good move as much better today as proved with the speed workd, which consisted of 2 x 5 sets of 200m hills and 2 x 10 mins threshold. Last hard - Tonight Last Rest - Yesterday
LMH just had look at yesterdays thread well done on your Abingdon time..you run about the same mara times as me...PB 3.40..also chasing that 3.3XX hopefully next year at VLM.
Thats why I started posting again...ok ok I know it doesnt make me run faster but this thread does help to keep me focused.
I cant rememeber his name from last time but Alehouse Wabo etc who was the guy who potsed here who wore the union jack shorts ??? I remember first reading about P&D schedules from him, just dusted mine off : 0

Tom my half split was 1:24:xx
RW I printed the one off the RW page which I think is in the training section.
Chick I generaly peak at around 50 to 60 per week which may last for about a month but keeping that focused is quite hard.
LMH - Gutted for you missus. A bit of work and a half decent lead-in next time and a PB will be there - keep the faith!
Postie - Way Hay!!
I'm off back to my rock!!
