I have a problem with coughing!, when I run on the treadmill, which I have now built up to 10k in an hour, I keep geting this annoying cough - any ideas why and how I can get rid of it?
could be a whole list of things, did you have a cough before running? have you recently gave up smoking? is the room where you run stuffy or have a lack of air conditioning? do you suffer from asthma?
Grody, maybe your lungs are just thinking wtf are you doing to me? First you poison me with nicotine and now you expect me to work like an athletes lungs. I dare say there will get used to their new lifestyle soon and adapt.
Does the cough originate in your lungs or your throat? Do you have any associated wheeziness or phlegm (i.e. is it a dry or wet cough)? Is it severe enough to stop you running or is it more of an irritation?
Have you discussed with your GP?
Its not something I've heard any other runners complaining about, so it does sound unusual.

possibly exercise induced asthma?

I think as Susses Runner says, after 25 years of smoking, my lungs arent going to be clear in 8 months!
It is a dry cough
I think you are right
Go and see your GP, any persistent cough that you have had for three or more weeks could be indicative of something more serious.
