I'll be back for more, and given Mr panad's reactions I think he will be as well - and given his time I think I'm going to have to work on my sabotage techniques
Hey pinkbug, welcome to the madness if you don't know what you're letting yourself in for or want a but if inspiration check out the highlights of this year's race tonight at 8.30 on s4c -available on satellite/online if you're not in Wales.
The best UK marathon by far - the only one I will do every year - legs permitting will be there for my 7th consecutive one. I look forward to following (again) the forum and reading the trials and tribulations of others en route to the 2013 race!
I'm doing the Coed y Brenin half again - after switching to the half from the full I want to have a crack at this fantastic event with some decent training behind me.
I've missed the last two years through injury, but back running well again. Was aiming for sub 3 hour last year but had to pull out. Planning on returning next year. By far the best UK Marathon.
Been reading up about this new Wales Coast Path. Their website has brilliant maps of the whole route - 109 pages of A4 in all. So I downloaded pages 106-107 and went out and did an 11-mile section near to me yesterday. There's very good signage and new gates/footbridges/boardwalks over marshy bits.
As a long term plan I've decided I'm going to try to run all of it before I hang up my running shoes. So I'm on the look-out for races which use the Coast Path. Any suggestions considered. The Votwo Pembs 3-marathon challenge is obviously a good example. Might do one of them in each of the three next years? Only drawback they're a week after SNOD (pinkbug - an abbreviation for Snowdonia marathon).
TRex - No idea of any races in this part that use the coastal path, but if you are in need of some accommodation when you come to do the NE Wales stretches then give us a shout.
Sorry SS, I hope you aren' t doing it as I want the best coffee in the area after finishing the race!! (although you did say you make that awesome flapjack in advance!!)
A lot better thanks T-Rex. It's been a slow recovery, but has improved a lot in the last few weeks and I managed a 13 mile trail run yesterday without pain, my longest run since May. Had 3 physio sessions which have helped, not 100% but getting there.
I'm planning to do some longer stuff building up during next year - Wuthering Hike in March and possibly the Trail Marathon at Coed-Y-Brenin in June.
Did anyone do the trail marathon last year - what was it like?
Definitely back for a 7th helping in 2013 - trying for sub 3:49 when TR gets the list going.... I assume we'll be back for the rain and gales as usual??
Greg - I did the half marathon at CyB (having switched from the full) - fantastic event - very well organised - great course and excellent value (items in goody bag, t-shirt, race momento etc worth more than the entry price!)

Off to Italy, brer? You get about. You've probably heard there's another marathon over there which you can just about fit in.

Very disappointed to miss this year with a knee injury I picked up in June. Hope to be back next year and have a proper go at that 3:30 target.
How is the knee, Greg?
