I've already opted for the overnight stop Sticky - I'm old and need my sleep! Bewleys hotel, about 100m from the terminal, £56 for the night.
Aww....bless. Good idea with the overnight stop. Will see you on the flight then, if I can keep awake! Manage to persuade my aerophobic boyfriend to fly, hopefully he'll be too sleepy to realise he's on a plane
Cant say I'm happy with the organisation of this pre registration stuff for Berlin. Much better to get people to pay up front instead of having all the places taken by those that 'might' confirm later. I got 2 places for me and my brother who is away on holiday and said he might want to run it. He might not run it either so I've taken a place that someone else could have taken if they were taking money up front. It just doesn't seem right and I'm sure there are many that thought they might as well register for nothing.
Problem now is that many of my running friends don't have a place so we'll maybe look at Budapest or Frankfurt which means that both my places will be available. Just wonder how many are doing the same and how many places that will free up?
Call me cynical as well but I'm not convinced that people will be moved up the price bracket when places become available. Be interested to see if anyone does but I reckon if your in at 110 euros then thats what your going to pay.
Not a well thought out plan from a runners perspective but an absolute goldmine for the organisers!
@MC Dave - I have to disagree. I thought that it was fantastic and very quick and easy. I cannot believe that there are going to have a lot of places left over but if that's the case - then there will be other bibs available in a few weeks.
If you didn't get in yesterday all is not lost. The marathon facebook page states that recycled places will be available from 6pm on the 17th November.
Hi andyp - family are all good thanks. hope you are well.
Just back from Amsterdam last weekend and marathon No 11 in the bag with a new PB of 2:38:03. Could have been better but for the wind but thats how it goes I guess.
I agree Emmy H, the process was quick and simple but the race would not have been full in 3.5 hours if people had to stump up the cash there and then. As it goes I have two places that I'm unlikely to use now as others didn't get in quick enough. Looks like Frankfurt or Budapest for us
Injured since July and just done a 4 mile and a 5 mile run since then but chanced the half and got round ok, with no ill effects. Showed my fitness is shot to bits though! 20-25 minutes slower than I might manage at peak but realistically it's where I am now.
I didn't. I registered bang on midday (Euro time) while the 60 Euro entry was still highlighted, entered my data, and submitted. Then I got a message saying "Thank you for your booking". But I've heard nothing since.
Did Berlin this year and stayed in City Hostel, it's very near the start and was comfortable. Breakfast was included and opened early on marathon day as so many runners were staying. It was about ??20 per night. Also when collecting numbers those that went on the Saturday had a long wait it was quicker on the Friday.
Damien - I have done Berlin before by flying out on Saturday morning and back Sunday evening - spent the afternoon eating and drinking and slept it off on flight back.
Did anyone understand the option purchase in the registration page? Does "special package" also include "finish T-shirt"? Althought it's priced 20 EURO, there was no tickbox next to finish T-shirt. I would imagine the finish T is included in the registration fee?

Thanks Gordon. Good to know!
Are you looking to run this Andyp as I was contemplating this one myself if I can get one of the recycled places?
Hi andyp - family are all good thanks. hope you are well.

DLR - How did you get on in Amsterdam?
Alright Dave ta.
Injured since July and just done a 4 mile and a 5 mile run since then but chanced the half and got round ok, with no ill effects. Showed my fitness is shot to bits though! 20-25 minutes slower than I might manage at peak but realistically it's where I am now.
At least your back in the game mate and running again. Thats the main thing!
Well done on getting through the half
Did everyone get a confirmation email?
I didn't. I registered bang on midday (Euro time) while the 60 Euro entry was still highlighted, entered my data, and submitted. Then I got a message saying "Thank you for your booking". But I've heard nothing since.
Should I be concerned....?
I also got an email straight away! cannot wait now! just need to get training properly i guess
Does anyone know when is best to arrive and when is best to leave? this is my first marathon and being a student i need to keep it cheap
If I arrive Fri ... I could collect my bib number on sat ... and fly back home on monday (safe option) .... does that sound right?
Or is there a way to get it cheaper?? ... finally, are the hostels good? and do they include lockers?
Damien - I have done Berlin before by flying out on Saturday morning and back Sunday evening - spent the afternoon eating and drinking and slept it off on flight back.
Thats me all paid for!
60Euro
Im rather excited now!!
Damien - when did you get your email?

I thought it wasn't possible to pay until the 5th of November? Has anyone been notified that they can now proceed to payment? Confused ...
I only just received the email from SCC Events GmbH today, earlier than expected.
Anyone else paid and had confirmation for the 39th Berlin Marathon rather than 40th???
Sticky - i paid and have confirmation for the 40th
