Heya
I'm writing my first ever forum thread.....how exciting.
Been running for a while and have taken part in some great runs like Hell Runner, The General Race, Commando Challenge to name a few. Thought its about time I stepped up my distance and challenge my self to a half marathon.
I've been looking at the Silverstone Half........any inside tips from you lovely people? Is it worth doing? Whats the atmosphere like? etc
Thanks

Hi....sounds like you have been doing some fun races.......i haven't done silverstone half but there has been some good reports......
tips would depend if you are the type of runner who is motivated by a schedule or whom like a more fluid approach
Hey holey moley...... welcome, I guess we lost our forum virginity together.
Little lost with Seren nos comment, no offence, what exactly do you mean by schedule or fluid approach?
Oh welcome btw
Just how old are you Dave.....to be an ex spartan you must be..........?? hundreds or thousands?
I make my schedules up, well I just run at the moment. Maybe a schedule is needed?
J1M appreciate the feedback, thanks. Like the idea of flat, shame about the crowd, I'll bring my own
Thanks guys!!
abi...i was asking what motivates you.do you like to know how many runs you have to do that week and how far each one so that yoiu can tick them off...................or do you just like going out when you fancy it and running on feel and how ever far you feel like that night....
different people respond to different ways of training
Welcome to RW
Welcome to RW. Silverstone is meant to be good but there are lots of more scenic races out there.
Ah ha, thanks Seren, I tend to run a few five k's in the week and then push about a 14k at the weekend. I guess its like routine rather than what I need to do. What do you prefer?
Hey Birkmyre!!
Thanks Cougie, any recommendations on a good half marathon in the south west.?
I've done the silverstone 4 or 5 times. It's a really well organised race which is good value- not the most scenic, but is relatively flat so good if you are looking at a PB.
Good luck!
Hey Rob
Thanks for the response.......does seem like good value for money so I've booked myself a place!! Time to start training.......swimming seems to be popular in this weather!!!
