    Morning.

Couldn't think of any lyrics - thanks for starting the thread emzap. Weather forecast is good, not too windy which is the main thing on an old airfield!

    Anyone else racing this weekend?

Blisters - hope the rain has gone through early - we had ours last night.

    What:             Shakespeare Raceway Half Marathon
Why:              I need to spend some time running faster
    Last hard:      21/10
    Last rest:       15/11

    Lyrics - yes.

If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.

Lyrics: I was there until I saw the bracketed line and now you've got me image
    What : Half mara
    Why: Cos it's booked
    Last Hard: Wed I think
    Last Rest: 16/11

Hope for good weather too. Just leaving. Should be fun, unlike last night in Cardiff. Better team won tho!image

    Morning!

Lyrics are familiar, and nearly true...had a bad night following physio. Ankle is really hot following quite a bit of manipulating and stretching. She was reasonably pleased although not happy with the wound itself which is not closing quickly enough. Have got a range of exercises plus I can do some gentle exercise bike work.

What: watch the rain through the window

    Why: rest

    Enjoy your races, racers.
Progress is rarely a straight line. There are always bumps in the road, but you can make the choice to keep looking ahead.

At work all day, then hoping to fit in a quick catch up beer with a good mate who I've not seen in a while, then taxi driving for my other half and her friends who are out on the town tonight, so doubt I'll get a run in.

Got cross country tomorrow though image

Lyrics: yep, often hear it on the radio too.

Good luck to all those racing.

    Morning

Tom/ NZC Fully understand the need to hang in there with the young quick guys on club nights even if only for awhile.

AH: Hope it eases off today

Yesterdays bike ride was surprisingly straight forward, start at 0530, cycle 100K to the start of the mountains sat in the peleton with only one "pull" at the front. Arrive at the point where the road goes upwards, peleton falls to pieces within 200 metres! Spin up the mountains, hurtle down the other side at 50MPH+ to the Indian Ocean, form a small group of 10 or so riders and fight our way into the headwind up the coast to the finish.  Total of 220K / 137 miles in 6 hours 39 mins, average speed 32.6KPH or 20.2MPH,  About 6500' of climbing, bar b que, cider, bed.

What: Nothing unless I trot later
    Why: See above
Last Hard: The last two hours into the wind yesterday
    Last Rest: Thursday

    Lyrics: Nope.

    Good morning

Lyrics - nope...seem to be back on a don't know run

Alehouse - I think you are now officially starting rehab.

DD - bloody 'ell, all that at an average speed of 20+ mph. Hats off to you!

LMH - I ran just 8M this morning, quite a leisurely and haphazard effort. Hamstring started to tighten a bit towards the end, so now got the ice pack out. I suppose the good thing about icing hammies is that you can sit in the ice pack and forget about it, rather than having to contort yourself clutching it to the inflamed partimage

Anyway going to have a circumspect few days to hopefully shift it.

hope you had a good one, LMH!

RFJ: crossing my fingers for you tomorrow. Pre-race nerves are good image

DD: monster-ride. Bet you walk like John Wayne today image

Coming down with a cold methinks. Rotten timing. Hope to keep it at bay for another 18 hours so I can race tomorrow ...  well, it's no A race, so if I feel shit I will simply jog around. Enforced rest today though in the hope that Echinacea and Vicks First Defence do their magic.

DD - sounds like a great ride.

Alehouse - I wonder if a specialist dressing may help promote wound healing? Have you had the stitches out?

    chickadeee - rotten timing.

Hope it all goes well tomorrow RFJ.

sweep - hopefully today's rest will have benefits tomorrow.

    Sounds sensible Tom.

Woke this morning with yesterday's sinus headache still very much in evidence and a raised RHR - I suspect my tooth is the cause. Still HR wasn't high enough to mean that I shouldn't run and it was an opportunity for some faster running rather than a PB attempt so I could still achieve that.

Managed to identify Straycelt at the start, nice to meet you - he was dressed for a long day - hope it went ok, sorry I couldn't stay around to see you in. We were chatting away when the gun went so had a leisurely start waiting to cross the line then I was frustrated by the many slow runners in my way - totally my own fault and teh race is chip timed anyway. Still managed my usual fast first mile then just tried to settle in. Was working consistently though the mile splits were affected by the turns, slight inclines and short stretched into the wind (not that there was much). Just ran pretty much to feel, noting the mile splits and HR for the first three laps then managed to pick it up a little over the fourth lap to finish quite strongly. Looking forward to getting the 5k splits once they're online. Worked out I just had to keep sub 8s for the last lap to come home under 1.45 and crossed the line in 1.42.25 Garmin time.

If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.

Nice to meet a fellow forumite LMH and yes it was a long day. However Ram in his second half-marathon (1st was Cardiff last month) was paced home sub 2.10 and chopped over 12 mins off his "PB". He was a happy boy and I was blinking cold. Interesting 4 lap and a bit course with 4 hairpins  and a few other bends per lap. Very exposed and weird crosswinds. Glad I took enough of the right kit for the plod.
DD...big respect, don't think I could do 20mph for 1 hour on a good day let alone across that sort of terrain! AH..hope it calms down and heals a bit better soon.
Now off to check the other rugby scores, contemplate a beer and wonder about a brisk run tomorrow
