lol, you could try the black country half marathon I've not done it but heard good reports about it, its from wolverhamton to bham along the canal towpaths and meant to finish in brindley place ( so u can get a celebratory drink after )
longer races are a bit thin on the ground in July/August there's Leek (Peak District) in August in September, most scenic would be Langdale (Lake District, hilly) other scenic options are Lake Vyrnwy (Wales, flat), Dumfries, Anglesey (trail) and Pembrokeshire.
Bacchus Half - Sept 8th - fancy dress (optional), wine tasting every other mile, hog roast BBQ at finish. Mainly trail and beautiful scenery, based in the biggest wine estate in England.
Great North West (1500 runners + Runners World Pacers 24th February 2013, Blackpool Full & Half 7th April, Lytham St Annes Windmill 1/2M 14th July, Fleetwood 1/2M 25th August, Hilton Illuminations 1/2M 1st September all well supported events. Midsummer Munro at Box Hill near Dorking, Surrey on 23rd June . . . very scenic (although a tad extreme!)

You could try the Milton Keynes NSPCC Half on 7 July or the Wycombe Half on 21 July. I'll probably be doing one or both of them. There's also the Down Tow Up Flow Half on 28 July.
