.... Bit of a weekly treat

  • Lard if the other half is one of them you might want to show her this it could help with the brainwashing err sorry i mean she might like it. Friendly bunch and always got some good banter at races. image

Yeah, that sounds good to me. I've got a marathon booked for January, as a bit of fun, so we'll see if I can better 3:28 this time, and definitely no walking. Maybe.

  • so annoying. want to train. would train (if OH would take an hour to go shopping). having to wait til lthe ankle is a consistent colour rather than red n white hoops

    grrrr image

  • Chill, how about some weights work, do some stretching , Swiss ball ?
  • Matie injures are a pain in the arse. as above as Dave say's or maybe some swimming depending on if you tend to kick or not.

  • Indeed, a right royal pain in the ankle!

Idle again today, club swimming tomorrow image
  • very fcuked off.

ankles being a right b'stard. it could pass for a tory all on its own. life is just getting in the way of having one. OH is trying to be its psycho twin. ( appratenly, I cant do an ironman. or something - 'yes dear, I cant and you can watch me not do an (mDot) ironman in Nottingham in July'image

might manage some organised PT on sunday - after a shed load of furniture removal, a full downstairs swapout of wooded floor for carpet and a full restore of the furtniture.

my anlke wont get better enough for me to train on it IF im mauling all that house shyte about all weekend.......

    grrrrr.

  • Take deep breaths and remember you have ages before the big day. Enjoy the PT and look on the brightside you won't have some psycho shouting into your ear wearing a red t-shirt while your doing it. Unless you fancy getting someone to come round?

  • Sgt - have you been to a dr about your ankle?

  • Don't know if this is any use, but saw it on another site. Don't know if its any good and I'd be interested in others views, as I also have an injury myself that's preventing me from running and cycling.

2nd link is the plan you can get to through the 1st link.
  • Sgt, it's time to think about core training. Sit ups, leg raises, and planks. Pain pain pain. I hate it. Prove you're a man.

You didn't ask, but I did get a run today and am happy.

  • I've put on half a stone in the last fortnight, I can't do much but wheeze and cough myself awake every night, for a week, my knee has started to refuse to support my weight again with lack of use, my ITB aches and I'm not even running, I'm falling asleep in the chair every night at 8pm, 2pm if I sit down and I look like a beer festival addict.

Mr Cough, please fuck off and let me have my oxygen back.

If only the doc could prescribe that!

Thanks for the advice everyone! - Im putting of the dopc in the hope it gets better. ( or rather putting of the doc saying 2 weeks r & r and stop doing ...... as was their usual response to injuries in the past ).  Im being impatient.  Its getting better, slowly. too slowly, but every day nudges the thing forward.

a little diy tonight, a bit of bike tomorrow and more core work. lifes events have been a challenge of late but the light is clearly in the tunel and the exit is opening up nicely.

proably gained a bit, so its past time to get strict control over the intake of calories - first step is to write down everything going in...... and revisit the weigh in image

OH is back on board. ( * too much stress makes us all bad tempered. and she has had too much stress - so I should stop being a jerk maybe ).

Im happy your happy Blisters. PLanking -n wasnt called that when I was a lad and stretched myself out between two school chairs whilst someone played the drums on my mid section. but thats another storyimage   crucnches, twists , leg raises, static out/hold, bunny hops and a bit of human punchbag isometrics  beforer being seated against the wall....without a seat. I was a man once, but im married nowimage

  • I've hauled this pic out before but in a vain attempt to cheer you up. Here's my colourful ankle that haealed up just fine with some physio and some ultra-sound.

Ultrasound is wonderful and it might be worth visitng the docs to see if it's an option for you?

    a glutton ?

good effort. id have to 'pretend' 2 miles of my run to make 10k in 50mins

  • OK.  Im off for a swim. i brought me kit, and I know the pool is 2 miles away and its my legally enititled lunch hour.....and you dont need ankles to swim and i probably wont twist it again getting into the water.....

45 minutes of wet time, 18m pool and a a css of 2.23 so thats errrr.......

sod the math, lets get wet.

  • thats better. nice to stretch and a quick blast up n down .

although, perhaps 1pm would be better as the pool was filled with the  breast stroke pedestrian team. fair play, each to their own - ill come back when youve completed your socialising (*fcuked off) image

found another pool for a morning session tomorrow in northampton on route to the other office.

might manage a bit of turbo tonight. ankles still smartin from two + weeks back. I may indeed need to see the quack image

  • Take it steady, doing more damage, or not letting the current damage hel will make things harder in the long run
  • OK. no turbo - image  need to man up a little on getting back on the horse

OK. managed my swim. odd shaped pool, but empty and 25m - got my 40 minutes in image

I should make an effort to get a little treadmill session on, just manning up a little.

ankles is still a little tetchy, joints a little swollen. bruising has gone. swimming has been good for it, but only light walk run will let me know for sure.

got to be carefull, as all your advise - gently does it to avoid more/longer issues later.

safest route must be atreadmill and turbo - reduces the risk of a further twist.

  • I would leave the treadmill until the pain has gone and then start with walking and build it up slowly. Swimming would be good and some light turbo work but just take it easy. Let your body heal!
  • So, I could put it off no longer.  I had my first long run for 3 weeks on Sunday -

I say long, but it was more a usuall length (38 mins ) - just to test the ankle out as its about 90% normal.

5k in 36.28 so not so bad after 3 weeks bone idle.  Ankle has been fine since also, so Im all set for Fink's march into madness image

45 min run tonight, again steady pace planned on the treadmill...... happy(ier) days.

Hows everyone else doing, day 2 of Fink et all ?

  • 45 minute run delivered. all smiles and lightness today. well ok, 41 minutes. 3.58miles. run 10 walk 2. hrt is higher than it was, recovery hrt takes a litle longer also. to be expected after doing naff all for best part of a month I suppose.

day 3 of fink calls for a brick session. may not push the 15min run hard though. just in case.

45 min bike QC 15 min run. Z2. nice and monotonous on the turbo/treadmill. image

  • another 45 minute run - very nicely allZ2  .... im getting back to pre injury hrt consistency.

Although, Ive missed the brick and the turbo session - must make up fot that tonight.

ankle is holding up but its not what it should be. Might need to get the quack to take a look and prescribe some strapping or amputation or something .

last nights news makes this all a bit irrelevant. hearts go out for those bereaved yesterday.

  • Crap weekend of training. Manflu cough splutter sneeze......managed just a mediocre turbo session is all
  • mediocre is better than crap, which is almost better than none !

  • manflu on the mend. cough. splutter. cough. shyte.

this time next week , ill be running image
