I am just starting my vegan journey and need advice about how to tailor it so it helps my running. Going vegetarian has helped me feel much better, get over stomach upsets I was plagued with and most importantly slash my running pace by 1.5 minutes so far. I would welcome all advice, info about websites, books and other resources you might know of. And personal stories as well. Also, should I take any supplements?

Read "Eat and Run" - Scott Jurek. Top ultra-runner and vegan. Some really good recipes in there as well.
I often see runners from this group in races. There may be some good links etc on their site: http://www.veganrunners.org.uk/index.html
Yes, I read this book and it also inspired me to go vegan. The healing properties of food really appeal to me.
Disclaimer: I'm not vegan, but I am veggie, and trying to reduce my reliance on cheese (but there are so many varieties, and they taste so good...). Still, trying to follow the advice: "Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants."
Suggest you look at this blog http://www.neverhomemaker.com/ It's an American couple and they are both runners and vegan. They post regularly about foods for runners and have lots of easy and tasty recipe suggestions.

Give this a try for vegan fitness
I am a vegan runner, since going vegan from vegetarian I have had lots of energy and found it has helped me improve my performance. I am currently reading Finding Ultra about Rich Roll a vegan ultra triathlon althlete who discovered running and veganism in his forties.
I also love Eat and Run and met Scott Jurek at the weekend, he was really inspirational.
