Hi all,
Every time I go for a run I run out of breath way before my legs hurt, I am trying to work out why this is. Most of my friends who run faster than me say that their legs are hurting but rarely do they stop because of breath.
My conclusion from this is that I am not using my muscles to their full potential but I don't know what to change? i.e. I don't ever really feel like my muscles are tired, I have already stopped by then or slowed down because of breathing!
Any ideas guys? or similar experiences?
A tiny bit about me...I am kind of a beginner runner, have run a few 10k and a couple of half marathons. Was quite happy to get a PB this year of 1:51 but want to get faster!

Does that mean more longer runs would help?
I have been running for ages just still consider myself a bit of a beginner because I don't seem to get much better!
You need to look how you're training then. You should improve with proper consistent training.
Longer but slower !!!! get a heart rate monitor if you can
Thanks guys!
I will look into getting a heart rate monitor and putting in some longer/slower runs... its hard to get outside for long is this weather but will give it a go!
