I have a quick query regarding the Wheaton Aston 10k...
I sent off my entry form (and cheque) a couple of weeks ago. The entry form states that race numbers and chips are to be collected on the morning of the race.
Are runners going to receive any sort of email confirmation from the organisers that their entry has been received? I would hate to drive all the way over to Wheaton Aston to discover my entry was lost in the post.

I've entered this too and thought the same thing! I'm going to keep checking my bank account to make sure the cheque has cleared and that will be my confirmation of entry!
Why don't you just contact the organiser?
I don't think the organiser of this relatively small event would appreciate being contacted by 100+ runners checking on their entry!
The numbers and chips will be issued on the day according to the Newport website
Sorry all,
We've got two big race entries coming in at the same time so I've left the Wheaton Aston ones until this week mainly. Entries are about the 250 mark so half full. We'll get the full list of entries on our website by this weekend.

Above it says the race has 250 entries, can someone post the current situation.
I get to know about a lot of the races I do from Bryan Dale's Racephotos website and he says that the figure has risen to over 300.
At the moment I am unsure if I can make the race, so if places are still available I will probably just turn up on the day. As I am travelling down from Stoke, it would be nice to know if the race had not reached its limit.
Thank you.
If you check the Newport Running Club website, you can check your entry http://www.newportrunningclub.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/Wheaton-Aston-Entries-up-to-7-12-12.pdf
As at 13 December 2012 there are nearly 500 entries so enter now to guarantee a place.
I'm looking forward to it, so book your place now.
Thanks for the posting guys. Damn, it's filling up fast, I will have to make a decision one way or the other pretty soon as to whether to pre-enter.
Thanks Pink Lady for your support of Racephotos.
When I contacted Sandy Mackenzie, a Race Organiser, about 3 weeks ago, suggesting I could put a banner on Racephotos to promote the race, the pre-entry figure stood at 300. Sandy said if they could increase that by another 100 he would be happy. He-he, almost 500 have now pre-entered. Sandy under-estimated the popularity of Racephotos, which has now had one and a quarter million hits. Its nice to see such a lot of familar names now on the list of pre-entries.
If the FULL UP signs should go be required Sandy could you please let me know, so that I could change the banner of Racephotos.
Kind regards.

Bryan, I couldn't believe your claiming credit for the popularity of this race.
I suppose www.westmidlandsrunningscene.co.uk has nothing to do with it then.
I hasve been at this race since its inception, and used to do the results before Newport took over.
An uptodate en try list is on my site showing just 20 entries left.
I have pulled the banner Brian.
I will give the race a miss.
Don't be silly Brian, we've a;ways got on. See you on the 27th
As he said his site get 100's of hits every day.
Thanks for your support mugpunter32, I just didn't want to step on Brian's toes, as he rightly says, he has been involved in promoting the race for much longer than myself. As everything seems okay and Brian is happy for me to be there I will be doing what I do, be taking photos on the 27th, God willing and fair weather. Have a good one race everyone.
Bryan, we'll have a chat as usual.
Hi All,
The race is now full. All entries I received up to today (Wednesday 19th Dec) have a place. I have shut Online entry also. Any entries received after today will not have a place and their cheques will not be cashed. We have just over 50 cheques to bank so do not worry if its not cashed.
A full list of entries will be on Newport Running Club website hopefully sometime tomorrow.
Cheers

Blown away a few Xmas cobwebs
Agreed Mug Punter, more fun running through the puddles than driving through them. Achy now though first race in over 2 years.
Well organised and well marshalled.
