training in support shoes but racing in neutral

I'm quite new to this so please forgive me if this sounds rather naive. I wear support shoes for training but I also own some Puma Faas which are really light, could I wear these for races such as 10ks etc? or would I be doing some damage? Thanks for any advice any of you can give.

  • Hi Andrew,

By no means an expert but I would recommend racing in the same shoes that you train in or at least done some training in, anything else is asking for an injury, particularly from supports to neutrals. If your determined to wear neutrals do some training in them and see how you go, I recently moved from supports to neutrals with no major problems.

Andrew can't comment on the faas but I do my steady/slow running in a support shoe but race in a light racer. Although I do my speed work down the track or tempos on the road in the racers too. Basically slow training in my heavy shoes. Fast training in my light shoes
