Last night I decided that running in the evening might would probably be less slippy than first thing in the morning. I was right with respect of general icyness; hadn't reckoned on it starting to snow again 30 mins before I went out though.
Jantastic wins again - and I even persuaded myself to do a second lap (and recorded my slowest 5k ever!)
Last required run for this week done, Hadn't set out to do 6 a week initially but signed up for a challenge. Looking forward to getting back to normal in Feb and March.
Monster run this morning. Skirting around sheet ice down the trail, then hit the first of the floods from overnight rain and thaw. A f****** w***** driver came hurtling down one road causing me to have to sprint through a Ford before the inevitable happened. He hit one big puddle and didn't even slow down from that before he hit the wall of water. He was going to fast for that road even if it had been dry! I can't tell you how happy I was when his engine cut out in the middle of the ford. He looked at me and I helpfully gave him the V signal and ran on.
Going up the steepest hill into what felt like a gale-force headwind was no fun. My pace dropped from 10:00 to 14:15, and my heart rate still hit it's peak
That's 18m though, and completes my biggest mileage week to date (50m). Time to log 100% jantastic

It's a marathon not a sprint...
both races cancelled for me this weekend, but still got out for a quick trot both saturday and Sunday
Let's get these runs logged please.

Well done Trogs, never mind about the time at this time of year it all goes in the bank.
Running later offers a softer but slushier run and wetter feet, bit of a trade off
Waterproof socks

Waves at Trogs.
Too many people have obviously been using my little bridleway run in preference to pavements; It's turned horribly icy
Tonight's run will now take place elsewhere during daylight hours tomorrow.
Just noticed on Marathon Talk website that we can now start to set February's goals for the distances.
Have a look and think about them over the coming days.
When you go to log your runs, there are two boxes, one for Feb and one for March, click on these and it'll show you what's in store
No, runs can be in or out. as long as it's over a mile it counts
3rd run of the week done. 7.2 miles in 1 hour - very pleased with meself. 1 more to go on Sunday to achieve this week's goal
Ok, so who's had plenty of rain and has the snow finally gone this morning ?
Here it belted it down all night and we have some brilliant sunshine, not a drop of white anywhere
There was rain overnight, sun came out this morning but there's still some extra slippy ice/snow around. My 'run' today was more of a slithery shuffle
Snowed again here, but rain is predicted for tonight. I'm banking on it to get rid of the ice in time for my 18m run tomorrow.
Tough run this morning, quite a few deep puddles and hard heavy rain.
Time to get this weeks runs logged guys, lets be having you
Four out of five for this week done. No 5 coming up in an hour or so.
