Morning.

Lyrics - That place we all run to

NZC - marathon training for you too then!

Blisters - you are an all round domestic god.

Sounds as though you're getting back in to it Pammie.

Heavy rain overnight has cleared all of the snow - yay! - but the wind is high and gusting up to 40 mph so trying to decide whether to risk a ride on the new hybrid or to stick to the safety of the turbo. Decisions, decisions.

What:               a couple of hours on the bike
Why:                song title says it all
Last hard:        deciding I probably need to stay inside today
Last rest:         25/1

I forgot - yesterday's lyrics were No Freedom by Dido.

If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.

    morning all,
had wind and rain overnight like LmH says but shaping up to be a lovely day out there...
Birks - glad you all had a lovely day yesterday. Watched most of it on the beeb...Good performance as you say from Lagat, also pleased Chambers, grabarz & Bleasdale did well.
Am I right in thinking Lynsey Sharp is former sprinter Cameron's daughter?

What - hopefully an easy 6 or 7 later
Why - off to Somerset shortly, as youngest in biathlon (swim/run) National semi-final, so won't be home before 7 or 8pm
    last rest - 9 days
last hard - yesterdays long one hurt more than i expected

    lyric - not sure
LmH - was reading yesteday that Dido has a new album out in March

  • Likewise wind and rain overnight but looking up now

What: XC with bunfight as it is last one
Why: it's the last one and will have some work enforced rests over next 10 days
    Last hard: yesterday
    Last rest: Friday

Godd running yesterday Donaldo, Wabo, NZC image
would have been good to get out on bike again Pammie

Fun work night out last night (leaving do) - last of socialising trio with kayaking club this evening (leaving do for same bod)

14 miles long and slow for me this morning. 1:54:00 Very enjoyable until the last 2 mile when the wind blew and snow fell!

    lyrics - yes!

  • I knew when Mark declared that the wind was so strong that he'd be resorting to the turbo that it really wasn't safe for me to be out on the roads and I wasn't just being a wuss. Two hours turbo done. Not the easy option.

Dustin - hope the event goes well for her. That track is from the new album, been played on Radio 2 a lot last week.

Enjoy the x-country OH. Hope it's not as windy there as here!

    Have you entered Edinburgh donaldo?

If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.
  • Please let it be spring image. 10k race cancelled today. Snow and sleet now being replaced by rain turning everything into an ice rink.

what: 17.5 slow miles on Yaktrax
why: couldn't race or run fast ...
last hard: grains of sleet - it was like being sandblasted! Ouch.
    last rest: Monday
    lyrics:no

Hope the XC goes well, OH.

  • Afternoon!

Doesn't sound pleasant, Chick, so well done for banking that run! Likewise OH yesterday. Sounds good, DOnaldo!

Looking forward to the Somerset report, Dustin.

That's a long time on the turbo, LMH.

What: 15 minutes, including a couple of minutes faster than I have done so far.
Why: trying to feel like a runner, and almost succeeding. Where it wasn't muddy it was flooded.

    Lyrics seem familiar, so no.

Progress is rarely a straight line. There are always bumps in the road, but you can make the choice to keep looking ahead.

Yup, LMH, have secured an entry via Yorkhill Childrens hospital.  Was too late to get a normal entry.

  • A'noon

Wet and windy up here since aboout 6pm last night

Dustin: Yes she is Cameron Sharps daughter.

Some good longer training runs going on.

  • Tough chickadeee - you're certainly dedicated - more so than me I think!

If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.
  • V Windy but dry for XC. 4th of 4 of male vets as expected

Felt very stiff beforehand but ok once the race started.

    Sounds hardcore chickadee image

    Steady progress AH image

    Good long run donaldo
  • very quiet in here today.

chickadeee - sorry to hear about your race image good replacement run though.

good decision I'm sure LMH. it is hard sometimes to know if you are just being a wuss and some outside perspective definitely helps!

    alehouse - sounds like progress!

    what: 2hr18 very slow.
why: needed to get a long run done but still a bit stiff from sprinting / tempo yesterday.

    Evening all.

What: 5 km very slow followed by a classical concert with coffee and cake tasting
Why: still tretcherous out there.  Was meant to be 9km but calf gave up around 3km, so decided to call it a day.
Last hard: being sensible and calling it a day!

Snow starting to melt, though still icy and cold.  Hope it's gone by tomorrow as legs feel fine on solid ground, so may actually get a planned run completed!

Good dedication there Chick and also LMH.
    Ale
is that the fastest run yet?

    Have a good one all.

  • Alehouse - you must be very happy things are improving.

Chick and M. - good long runs.

What: 16km with Mae - bit hot on the way home - I stuck both our heads under a water tap 6km from home.

possunt quia posse videntur - we can because we know we can
  • Evening!

Yes, pleased that I am heading in the right direction, but a long way to go yet, and prostate treatment is more than likely to interfere!

Wabo: I see Spurs are concentrating on the league!

Take care with the calf, Emzap!

possunt quia posse videntur - we can because we know we can
  • It sounds like we've got some dedicated people here managing to put their long runs together. I spent the day thinking about slotting in a short run, but never quite made it.

Swim training: I took my wetsuit to the pool for a try out. Blimey they don't half make you quick! I only wore it for the first 15 minutes, just to get used to it really. Then we had time trials: 400m and 200m, so I ditched it for those. My attempts were more of the trial part. Remember though, that my target is to complete, not compete. The wetty test was really quite a boost. Open water being the next challenge, or 152 lengths.
